I'll often design in ways that distract from the fact that something is 3D printed, but not this time! This desk organiser is made to be noticed and questioned! Where did that come from? Why is it so complicated and why does it need bolts and such to hold parts together...
Yes indeed, this is a modular arrangement, and the clamping mechanism to hold parts together is intentionally intricate, with two separate brackets, a threaded bolt, and a completely superfluous threaded nut that's just there for looks, since the lower bracket is threaded already. So you get the idea - it's made to look complicated, solely for fun :)

That said, this is intended to be entirely functional and practical, and the clamping is positive and secure. I went through a bunch of different options for the clamping interface between the objects, and this one won out because not only does it look cool and ultramodern, it also prints just as well upside down. This isn't relevant to the models in this post, but it will become relevant on an upcoming design...
The inserts can be omitted if desired, but they're primarily there to give the option for multi-colour assembly, so you should probably include them :)

Dimensions
The dimensions of the 1x2 caddy insert are:
Interior height: 92mm
Interior width: 39mm
Interior length: 65mm

Printing Tips
There's nothing too tricky in these parts, it's all designed to be as easy to print as possible. The only angles over 45 degrees are in the hexagonal holes, but it shouldn't cause any trouble.
