Similar to flag recs: uneven pushups, upright split grips, wall presses, planks, and anything that conditions your wrists and shoulders (including bar hangs and pull ups) will all help somewhat. Try to mix up a few different exercises rather than going all out on one. As for finger down, I don’t think I ever intentionally go for that version! It feels more likely to cause an injury, and for these things I’d rather have a strong hand position than the slight extra amount of control that a pointed index gives!

Awesome! Do you have any conditioning recommendations for working on split grip besides what you mentioned in training for flag, or is that pretty much the same? Also, when do you choose to do split grip with the index finger down on the bottom hand?
