Kill Bill: Vol. 2 | Full-Length Reaction

Kill Bill: Vol. 2 | Full-Length Reaction

Yeah both movies were amazing. Thanks for the recommendations Janna

Franklin

This is one of my comfort films (both volumes), I'm so happy you got to watch it. Another of my absolute favourites is Gattaca (1997), although not similar at all they share Uma Thurman, she killed it in both. Darryl Hanna, aka Elle, was great as well and you also know her as Angelica in Sense8!! She is also in another classic, Blade Runner (1982), which I think you'd like. Hope you'll add both films to your reaction polls!

Regarding the crying on the floor of the bathroom at the end. He was laugh-crying. That's how it looks when you are filled with equal parts of relief and regret. Budd was wrong that you always feel one more than the other. In that moment, she was equally split. And then relief took over and edged out the regret. And then she went into full-blown happiness and thankfulness to be with her daughter. Brilliantly acted in my opinion.

Regarding Bill's death scene: I think she acts the way she does because she loves Bill. He was the love of her life. That's why she says she knew he was capable of doing what did, but she didn't think he was capable of doing to *her* because she was also the love of his life. She didn't run away from him because she no longer loved him. She ran away because his world would be a terrible environment for her daughter. She gave up the love of her life for the sake of her unborn child.

I concur--I love how conversation-driven Vol. 2 is. A genuinely great screenplay and also probably the biggest distinction between the volumes

With all the dialogue censorship in the closed captioning, I gotta wonder if they're just automating it all now, and it's programmed to err on caution so no "bad words" are ever inserted where they don't belong. If so, it's another "'advancement" that makes life worse, especially for deaf and hoh movie-lovers, while also eliminating valuable jobs.

I think Vol. 2 is my favorite. I can quote both movies verbatim. Another Tarantino film I recommend is Death Proof.
