5:10 My bf loves Death Stranding. Have you played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33? If not, I highly recommend it. Your analytic brain would adore it.

What you said about your nana was so powerful❤️❤️❤️💐

Michonne has a remarkably good sense of judgement- its one of my favourite aspects of her character. She's also just a straight badass!!

My heart was in my throat when I first watched 3x2 because I was already still upset over losing Dale, and I was not ready to lose Hershel. Both characters share many similarities with my grandad (some physical, some personality traits) and so I was very attached to them both. Luckily, Rick is a quick thinker and he has gained more confidence in his ability to make the call. I think he has both Shane and Lori to thank for that, he hesitated and allowed too much with Shane and he had to learn that lesson the hard way at the end of S2, and with Lori, when she pulled away, and the distance between them is implied to have been there the entire time jump, he would have had to learn to stop relying on her reassurance and look inwards for it. Maggie pleading with Hershel to let go if it was time really struck a chord with me this go around in a way it didn't before this year, because before this year I had never been in that situation, but earlier this year my nana was extremely ill and whilst I didn't say it out loud, I had those thoughts too. It sounds quite strange at first, pleading with a loved one to pass away if it's time, but when you're in that situation, it truly feels like you're wishing them mercy. Better than suffering. 3x3 I won't talk about too much cos I don't wanna accidentally spoil. Merle being back is interesting, he's a dick but he's entertaining. But, I was with Michonne from day one about the Governer, he sets off every alarm bell going. This is the first proper group/community we've seen since the nursing home in season 1, Randall's group mostly kept off-screen and hardly a community. It's great comparison material for Rick's group.

Hershel coming back to us gave me hope. Something I hadn't felt for these people since Sophia walked out of that barn. Shane would have killed Hershel. Never would have considered cutting his leg off. I didn't read the comics until the series was over. I'm glad. There are characters in common but to me the stories are vastly different. Especially the governor.

Good luck with your move next week!

1:21:46 Michonne isn't having any of this bullshit. LOL She's the best!!!

Melissa

I considered the heads in the tanks to be the Governor's trophies. Made me wonder if he was a serial killer in a former life or if it was the walker universe that simply changed his brain chemistry for the worst.

Thank you Frank, for another enjoyable rewatch of these episodes! Your comments prove you are good judge of character even before you explain your reasons. I remember In the original airing of this episode 3, Michael Rooker, who plays Merle, was added back to the opening credits again. People viewed this as a spoiler because he was listed as only a "guest star" in season two when Daryl was having hallucinations about him. So it ended up not being a surprise to the audience that Merle would make his appearance again to continue his story. I don't know if they took his name out since the original airing since many people voiced their complaints about it being a spoiler for them. It was nice to hear Merle express his condolences to Andrea over Amy's death, remarking that she was a good kid. I found it very interesting when Andrea and Michonne confronted Merle about him confronting them with a gun. Merles replies that's just normal, and that it's the unarmed man who should terrify you.....and in walks the Governor....how telling!! So now we know that Milton's research establishes that walkers can starve over time....a very long time, ugh! I realized when viewing this episode the first time, that when the Governor and his men show up at the helicopter and Andrea is immediately ready to reveal herself, it shows she is too quick to trust. Good that Michonne reminds her that she needs to be way less trusting. The Governor looks so serene in his comfy, overstuffed armchair....leisurely studying fish tanks full of severed walker heads.....creepy as fuck!!! It reminds me of trophies kept by serial killers.

The Governor is so creepy… 😭 His vibe is pretty fun though. I love a good villain… he is just a bit too psychotic for me haha. I don’t remember a lot of this part so it’s fun to be reminded of it. Michonne is one of my favs though, love her 🥰

For sure the utter lack of compassion or remorse by Tomas after killing Tiny would unnerve me as well. We've reached the point now where some people are almost certainly too dangerous to be left alive....."just give me a signal" as Daryl puts it.  And then when Tomas takes a swing at Rick, then shoves a walker toward him....well, you don't mess around with Rick anymore, he takes care of business because he always keeps in mind his duty to protect his family and team. Yep, "Shit happens." as Rick says just before he lands a machete into Tomas's skull. I don't really understand why Lori questions Carl when he kills some walkers while getting medical supplies for Hershel's leg. I know she was concerned that he went off alone, but he is maturing fast and developing skills that hopefully will take him a long way in the horrible walker world. Carl is not a little boy anymore. And Hershel’s life being in danger was a justified reason for Carl to go into danger himself to help him. Still I love the stern chastising Carl got from Beth for talking back to his mother.

There's a look between Rick and Daryl as Daryl helps Rick up off the ground after the prisoner tried to kill him that you actually paused on. Just that look was enough for Daryl to know what was about to happen, the teamwork has improved so much. I love the moment after they leave Oscar and Axel in their new cell block. Daryl shows some empathy with his "sorry about your friends" referring to the prisoners the guards killed so the disease couldn't spread. I can't imagine what it would be like to see that many people you knew rotting in front of you. T-Dog's advice on the bodies is also his way of essentially apologizing for the death's of their fellow prisoners. I like what you said about them needing the feeling saving Hershel gave them in the same way they needed to save Sophia. Their humanity is kept intact by these moments of triumph and love. The moment between Rick and Lori felt so important. He finally came to her, which is huge considering he was giving her the cold shoulder for months until then, wouldn't even make eye contact with her until they got to the prison. I definitely didn't think their relationship was mended here, but they finally took a step back toward each other. And I think it happened because Lori finally said exactly what Rick desperately needed to hear, that she knows he isn't a killer. Because I think he wasn't even sure himself anymore. And because she said that, he was able to protect them. I feel like he felt it necessary to tell her she isn't a horrible mother because he knew she needed to hear that as well for much the same reason. I remember being so suspicious of the Governor. Not because of his behaviour, but because Michonne was eyeballing him like he had a gun in his hand the whole time. Trusted her instincts more than my own. 😂 It's always so bizarre going from the bleak world on the road and at the prison to Woodbury all full of people and looking like an early 2000s sitcom. It's such a stark contrast that it's almost disturbing seeing Woodbury after getting so used to the way everything else is. Andrea just can't help herself, she flirts with every homicidal maniac she sees. 😭 Nothing could have prepared me for seeing all those heads in the tanks. Couldn't figure out why he would do that, cause they are not all walkers that mean something to him, considering he put Michonne's walkers in there and he didn't know them prior. So hard to get a read on him.

Governor will never tell his name, question is why? From what little I have seen and the area that this is filmed in the Georgia’s south I theorize that “governor“ is blood relation to the KKK type that lost the Civil War and something he said about taking back what was theirs Since shivers down my spine as I can remember there is a stone wall that is in Georgia somewhere that continues to represent the worst of the deep south. He’s trying to raise a civilization based upon his ancestral belief systems. Just a note on young Mr. Cole, Lorie and Ricks conversation kind of hit me wrong when Lorie didn’t tell Rick that it wasn’t just her that saved Herschel, but it was their son Cole, who took it up upon himself to go alone and found the infirmary and brought back bandages antibiotics and medication’s as well as killing two walkers. Lori and Rick need to stop long enough to realize their son is growing up in apocalyptic times and need to stop infantilizing him as he is now a teenager and rather than jump on his ass about doing what he did, they need to show gratitude for his sacrifice, but speak to him about safety. Young people are impulsive, but he wasn’t being impulsive. He was doing what he believed to be right based upon the example set by the group and Rick. Cole helped to save Hersel‘s life and didn’t ask permission because Lori and Rick have not given him space to be no longer a child, but a growing young man who is part of the group and as such should be training up to be an effective part of the group by giving him guidance training and boundaries. If they keep him as a child in their minds, he will only grow to resent it and then and only then will he become a vulnerable part of a group that goes out on his own without seeking much needed guidance. Yes I grew up eight decades ago coming out of the first world war second world war where children should’ve been allowed to be children, but had to grow up much faster. Hell we didn’t even get child labor laws in this nation until after the 30s. Children learn to hunt, till the soil, tend to the animals, learn what herbs were good and which ones were poison and others that were medicine. Human survival depends upon families understanding of their environment, and children are liability when they are under the age of five. From the time I was five years old until I was married and on my own, I was raised with chores simple ones at first with routine, always to listen to your elders, but to never keep secrets from your parents, especially if someone told you not to tell. Children are very resilient and in a perfect world would be allowed to remain children. But even now in our modern Times, not just in this nation, but all over the world children because of their innocence are being bartered, beguiled and miss used and abused because we have forgotten the first rule of taking care of children is to educate them of the dangers of their environment. They need to give Cole credit for his actions in saving Herschel. This will give him confidence that he is part of the group. If you’re allowing him to hold a gun to be able to kill walkers after all he has seen, and after all he has had to do such as kill Shane they can no longer afford to pretend that he is a child, that boat sailed a long time ago. He will grow to be a great part of the community so long as he is affirmed and guided.

So I stopped reading around when Michonne got to this town. But most of the things that have happened in the show so far have caught me so offguard because the show is very different from the comics. Plus, I read the comics first year of college over 10 years ago so I’ve already forgotten a lot of stuff.

Franklin

Hey Frank, how far did you read into the comics? I'm sure there have already been changes made to the show, but I assume a lot of surprises won't catch you off guard.
