Watching it like that, the last 2 seasons were hard. But when you are able to binge it like this, it's different. That said, this pilot is one of my favorites of all time. Up there with Dexter, ER, Six Feet Under. I give the credit to Frank Darabont (amazing) , Andrew Lincoln & Lennie James.

Don't listen to people who say it gets bad at the end. Some want every single episode to be super high energy and unexpected reveals which doesn't make sense. Some of the episodes are needed to just to build up for the next. I hope you ho all the way to the end and then do the spin offs!!!!! (except Fear the Walking Dead) lol.

It is a very different experience to watch it uninterrupted by a six-month wait for the next season. There are amazing aspects to all of the seasons. Rob and Trin Reacts - who I absolutely LOVE along with you :) - watched it from beginning to end - two episodes a week - and though they may have experienced some peaks and valleys in different seasons, they are now lifelong fans of the franchise. They thoroughly enjoyed the entirety of the show. I really think you would too, and I would definitely watch it again with you.

I had zero interest in a zombie horror but I had moved to Atlanta when the show was filming here, so started watching out of curiosity. I became a fan because, for me, this is about how people are tested and how our truest selves emerge. IMO, there are reasons to watch the later seasons, just as with Game of Thrones: a few great moments, and some resolution.

2025-05-01 20:11:29 +0000 UTCBtw in terms of the walkers Intelligence, I think the show didn’t really know how “smart” to make the zombies at first, so they sometimes do random things as use the rocks or turn doorknobs. It’s just a early-show thing, and they are not meant to be so intelligent. Hope it’s okay to clarify this, as it’s never discussed in-show as far as I remember, and it can sometimes be quite confusing to new viewers ☺️

I wanna say that I don't think the later seasons become horrendous (I'm a Game of Thrones fan too so I get it). The real dip in quality really doesn't until like Seasons 10 & 11 imo. Kinda like how Seasons 7 & 8 were the worst of Game of Thrones. And similarly to the success of House of the Dragon, I'd say the spinoffs that came after are pretty damn awesome. Obviously, there are flaws throughout it all, but I think TWD is one of those shows that benefits from the strength of its ensemble cast so that even when things are up and down, you're sticking around because of what you feel for the characters and the bonds created. But if I say anything negative it will be that I don't think the spinoffs that came about while the main show was airing are worth watching (FTWD, TWDWB, TOTWD). Just the ones that came after lol The characters are really the heart of this show...that and the moral and survival dilemmas they end up in, but you're prepared for that from the game I'm sure. Rick and Glenn...love them! And you're gonna meet so many more people you'll love I already know. At risk of this seeming like a spoiler (I don't think it is), I wouldn't get hung up on analyzing the behaviors of the walkers in this first season! They weren't entirely sure if they'd be getting more seasons and they wanted to be more creative and experiment with the walkers abilities. So there's things they set up that don't return and things that come later that aren't established yet, etc. I will also warn you...TWD fans are worse than IWTV fans with spoiling! They can be relentless and stubborn on thinking its okay to say things that they really shouldn't. Can't wait for more reactions!

2025-05-01 17:01:04 +0000 UTCI'd have to agree with that. Whether the show went on indefinitely or ended 4 or 5 seasons earlier than it did, it would have worked either way. I might have gotten burned out too though, if I'd been part of the fandom and hadn't binged it like I did. I think a lot the hostility people have for later seasons partly came from that and partly from some kind of fandom groupthink that I don't understand because I wasn't part of it. I don't even like zombies lol I just love the show because of all the complex drama of the human stories. I think Frank will land on the same conclusion as I did.

2025-05-01 15:35:29 +0000 UTCi loooooooove this show and all the spinoffs. i just did a rewatch with my husband in the last couple years and it was so worth it because while it aired each week was so stressful, but this is the kind of show that is much better to binge or at least watch a couple at a time. they love their cliffhangers haha. you are one who are so good at leaning into the grey areas and seeing people's true colors, so i don't think you'll have as hard of a time with this show as the uh.. general public did. lmao.

But imo, every season of TWD has its issues, including the early ones. However, when it’s good, it’s one of the best ever, and for that I cut it slack. Besides, some of my favorite moments are in later seasons! So yeah, this is just me saying, don’t worry too much about what some folks say because of course, that can really plant bias without realizing it. And you never know! You might like it - believe it or not, there are others besides me who don’t think “TWD SUCKS after season *fill in the blank* “ 😂 I’m hoping knowing that, even though it doesn’t always hit the mark, it will eventually come back around might help you stick with it a bit longer ☺️

Which means it took Lori less than 3 weeks to move on 🤨🤭 And if you're wondering how he survived during those 3 weeks (NOT A SPOILER, FRANK, I PROMISE! 😂), there's a webisode that shows a doctor stayed behind to care for patients up until not long before Rick wakes up.

2025-05-01 07:01:51 +0000 UTCI watched all of it, even sequels (still dropping btw).. multiple times through reactions.. admittedly there are some seasons that I like less than the others, but overall, IMO, it is one of those shows that if you started you have to finish it.. at least once 😉 ** p.s . Some walkers at the beginning keep some of their "muscle memory" , like picking up a toy or a rock.. but in next seasons their behavior is more consistent and more on par with what you would expect from zombies.
