The Bub scenes -- I love the interaction with his sister and then the beautiful speech he gives. He finally acknowledged Sharrod, and I love that the show didn't make it a whole drawn out speech simply to pull heartstrings. The simplicity of what Bubs says about him and his grief is all that is needed. Michael. Man, I love that boy. Snoop says he could never have been one of them -- you get the idea that Marlo, Snoop, and Chris have been together for many many years and are truly like blood. It's also on point for her to say that Michael was "always apart" from them and everyone, which feels like way he survived the abuse and trauma. Building a wall around himself, unable to be penetrated. Then, saying goodbye to Bug then Duke to protect them from the life he chose and its ramifications. Breaks my damn heart. I think of all of the adults we've seen on the streets; there are echoes of Randy, Duke, and Michael. In the police force or political arena, I see echoes of Naymond's future, the only one whose road looks bright. The young, silly boys we met in S4 are gone. It hurts. It really hurts. I agree with you about Bub's story arc being one of the very best. I would put Cutty up there, too, but Bub's tops it simply because we've been with him in every season whereas we only met Cutty in S3. But I do love Cutty's arc as well. Even WeeBay -- doing his time but allowing for a better future for his son. That took self-reflection, insight, bravery, and love.
