Hannibal 1x7 | Full Length Reaction

Comments

Great comment and comparison. Not to spoil you if you haven't seen all 3 seasons yet, but am curious if your final reactions and comparisons to Mad's portrayal in comparison to Sir Anthony's will stay the same. This younger version of Hannibal is out in the world and mostly trying to maintain his "person suit" cover, whereas Anthony's Hannibal gets to let his Ripper self more openly rip. I love both performances in different ways, but because Mads was given much more time and words to show multiple aspects of Hannibal, he now has the edge for me.

aaww you could see Hannibal smiling when he opened the door to greet Will for his appoinment. He was happy to see him and then the disappoinment on his face when he wasn't there 😒 this episode shows that even Hannibal needs a friend.

Look up "The Fall," "Mindhunter," and "Homecoming". I think you'd really like "Mindhunter" since you're enjoying "Hannibal".

Melissa

Absolutely. You can tell Franklin is the last person he wants to be in contact with

Franklin

I feel you. I like this

Franklin

Yes I definitely felt some of that energy there with the love for music and art Like that comparison.

Franklin

Never heard of it. I'll look it up

Franklin

Happy you're here for it

Franklin

real talk man. This shit is diabolical

Franklin

That realization Hannibal has a specific dish/recipe lined up for every victim BEFORE he even kills them is what puts Hannibal Lecter leagues beyond any other killer on any other series. He is not just cunning, brutal, and efficient, he's also a damn artisan.

Noct

Agreed! I told him to watch Schitts Creek. 🧑

Melissa

I have! It was so disturbing, but such a good show!! I ended up watching it because I loved the X-Files growing up but have not finished that show. I definitely think he would enjoy it, but he probably needs a break from the psychological thrillers before he dives into it because it's a doozy.

I signed up for your Hannibal vids, can't wait for the rest!

Or "Mindhunter" or "Homecoming"?

Melissa

Has anyone seen "The Fall" with Gillian Anderson? I think it might be a show in this vein that FF would like?? Thoughts if you've seen it?

β€œMusic pierced his damned soul.” This was a line about Lestat that also works perfectly for Hannibal. During the opera scene, I almost expect to see Lestat and Louis in the background as an Easter egg. Edit to add: Hannibal teared up listening to the soprano’s opera. Franklyn was tearing up listening to Michael Jackson. How’s that for a jumping point for comparison?

I mean… yes??? 🀣 I suppose so! As a psychologist, I empathize because I understand there are a lot of layers there! Empathizing with someone doesn’t mean condoning everything they do; it just helps paint the full picture. Hannibal is complex, didn’t choose his psychopathy, he deals with loneliness because he always have to wear that "human suit". We can feel sympathy for his struggle while still acknowledging that, well, the guy has a… unique palate! πŸ˜‚

haha you funny! πŸ˜πŸ˜„ the amount of times I wanted to call Hannibal lestat is criminal

Franklin

I feel you.. When he said "it can" that's why I said "There's so much to be addressed right here but let's move on" because my goodness that says so much about Hannibal's psychic. It's like dawg - this show is making great attempts to make viewers empathize with a flesh-eating circular.. Is it working???

Franklin

I'M WRECKED. Did you see when Franklyn says to Hannibal that feeling alone can be painful and Hannibal says , IT CAN? And then he is waiting for Will and Will doesn't show up. It all circles back to the beggining of the episode when Hannibal's therapist says "you have no friends" and he says that he has friends but he is not sure... And then he is inviting Alanna to cook with him and he goes to find Will... he feels alone and that noone knows his true self and he wants to be accepted by friends. THAT is SO SAD. I can't!

I dont know what to call the dynamic "two dads, one's a charismatic theatrical killer the other one's an unstable mess, and their surrogate daughter borned out of trauma" but i love it. Need more of them. Lestat always has the best suits. My bad I meant Hannibal

Victoire-Scarlett Conte

Is it bad that I kind of wanted Hannibal to kill him 🀣 I thought he was mad annoying as well lol

I feel like Hannibal wanted to mess with Jack's mind, but also give him closure on what possibly happened to Miriam because Jack goes to Hannibal to talk about her during one of their sessions. I'm the one who left the comment about Wills dream and definitely think that after this episode there is no denying he knows it's Hannibal, but it's like discovering your best friend is a serial killer. Will is too smart to not have made the connection. I think Hannibal in a way is like Franklyn because he obviously likes Will a lot. The closer he gets, the closer he is to getting caught...but unlike Franklyn, Hannibal knows the risks. Also, I think Anthony Hopkins is the most chilling version of Hannibal to me because of his age. He looks fragile and old, but he's not. I will say that it took me a while to warm up to this version of Hannibal, but as good as Mads plays him, something about him just doesn't fit the character for me and I can't put my finger on it. But I'm biased. πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

Hannibal's interactions with Franklyn are the funniest to me because I have never seen him more aggravated and annoyed at a person. Eve his impeccable serenity cracks multiple times, as he gets more and more agitated.
