I missed it the first time watching but everyone in the comments mentioned it and pointed it out .

Normally I'm only interested in the roles and not the actors behind them, but with this series I'm fascinated by the interviews. Sam Reid has a completely different charisma than in the role of Lestat. It shows again what a great actor he is. He seems really nice, almost shy. I'm always unsure of other people and afraid of rejection. He seems as if you don't have to be afraid of that with him and as if he is respectful and open-minded towards everyone. I'm surprised at how likeable the whole cast is.

2024-10-21 17:46:49 +0000 UTCHi! I recently discovered your (and Fox Taco’s) episode reactions, and I have loved them so much. You (both) bring so much thoughtfulness and empathy to your reviews, and I love how slowly you take each episode, rewinding to really get a full understanding of a scene. I have watched quite a few reactions, and while I have enjoyed many of them, so often you can see people miss some nuance while they’re talking or distracted, and I want to tell them to go back! You missed a spot! So it is very satisfying that you really dig in. I can’t tell you how excited I am that you are going to do a joint rewatch with Fox Taco, because truly you get so much from revisiting the whole two seasons. Perhaps most of all with Armand. Like, when you know what happened with Paris and San Fransisco, and you see Armand try and make Daniel feel grateful for Armand “saving” him in the first interview, or Armand claim he has only failed Louis once when Louis doesn’t even know what happened in Paris, the mind boggles at his audacity. It truly makes you doubt even the most basic things he says about the past. But I also think that when you rewatch you see so many moments of fear and desperation from Armand that just don’t fully register the first time, when you only know him as powerful and devoted to Louis. When I finished season 2 I was so angry at Armand, but then somehow, even though his audacity only grows with a rewatch, I ended up feeling deeply sorry for him. I’m still angry about Claudia! But also he works SO hard to trap himself and Louis into a 70+ year relationship that he knows (he must know! he is there!) is based on spite towards his partner’s ex (who he probably also has feelings for!) and I truly think it ends up making them both more miserable. It is also interesting rewatching S1 knowing what happened, and what Louis thinks happened right up until the S2 finale. My personal opinion is that Louis never deliberately lies (unreliable does not mean dishonest!) but that he has spent the decades since Paris trying to reconcile the unreconcilable and align the feelings that he still has for Lestat with Lestat’s role in Claudia’s death, going over and over his memories, trying to make it make it make sense, so that slowly the evidence that supports Lestat being a selfish narcissist only out for himself is brought to the forefront, and the good fades away. So you end up with the harshest interpretations of Lestat’s tone and intent, for very understandable reasons. Anyway, I didn’t mean for this to be this long. My point is that I look forward to any IwtV content you put out in the future!

Have you had time to check out Jacob's playlists? I'm really glad you decided to check out the teaser after all! I know you were nervous about spoilers but the beauty of this teaser is it gives you so much (because as you said a lot is happening and you should rewatch it because there are many fun tidbits to find) and nothing at all. At least storywise. They sometimes go into full-blown fanboy mode and gush about some things that might be considered spoiler-y. I do love all the rapid question/fan question interviews! They always have me kind of giggly. I think there is one where they play fake Jenga (which they can't call Jenga because of copyright reasons).

As a book fan, I can't even tell you how amazing it is to have him as Lestat. I can't wait to see him bring Lestat's past to life and show us all his complexities and nuances. He's such an interesting character.

It's a lyric video with some shots of Sam from this promo, so no spoilers. Thanks for sharing about the podcast for S1. I've listened twice, and thought it was so rich with actors as well as guests. I loved getting history about Storyville, Tom Anderson, and New Orleans in general. I wish they'd continued it for S2. My favorite thing is the Sam/Jacob friendship. They call each other their best friend; it makes my heart happy. Oh, the fang ring Sam had on . . . Bailey and Jacob have one, too. It's their "family" ring. You can see Jacob's in that same interview. I had not seen some of these, and I have to say that Eric (Daniel) talking about the coffins made my heart twinge. It strikes a little deeper for him as an older man. I adore him.

And what impresses me the most is how he is building up this new Louis, because Louis in the later books isn't that active. But now the show has established the show is about Lestat and Louis (and also Claudia)

I came away with the impression that his memory was probably just imperfect (like anyone after so much time). But also, after the big reveal at the end about Armand, then I started thinking... wow...Armand has been by Louis side for 77 years from Paris until the interview. Armand has his own interest in keeping Louis as his immortal companion and thus has a vested interest in perhaps influencing Louis memories about his time with Lestat. It would benefit Armand if Louis remembered lestat as more cruel, volatile, etc. Perhaps some of Louis misremembered events were seeded in his mind by Armand? We know Armand is particularly adept at mind control... and Armand had 77 years to work on Louis memories...Hmmmm....

I actually had a friend over this weekend who is already a HUGE fan of the books and original movie and I showed her the first season and she can't stop talking about how good Sam Reid is as Lestat hahah. She loves all the characters and it was so cool to watch with her and talk about it. We also watched the movie together since I hadn't seen it either so that was really fun for me as well. :) I love these videos since you can see how much fun they have together and I love hearing what made them excited and all the behind the scenes. I had not seen the season 3 trailer and omg Sam is funny hahahah the hard side eye to the dehydrated sound person. XD
