“all vampires are born out of trauma” my ass!

Be the CHANGE you want to see in the world💛✨ Madeline’s turning scene was literally the most beautiful, calming, reassuring, and loving scene of the whole show for me!

Awww...Love that you said that! ❤❤❤

I love your love for these two. I had read the books many times but I was not prepared at all for how IWTV was going to bring these two to life in such a dynamic way. The writing & the cast made me feel their love for each other & their loss like nothing ever had before. God, I was praying for a plot twist, anything to change their fates but instead we got the most devastating murder scene ever. I love this show for making me feel ever bit of it. I’ll never get over it. And I always look for people like you who have that same kind of empathy and a new perspective as well, so again thank you for your love of these two. Compassion is in limited supply right now & when we’re able to bleed for those we see on screen, then we become more able to bleed for people in real life.

Ava Sinclair

i loved that

The tragedy of Claudia is that she figured out this vampire shit. She figured everything out. She saw every wrongs Lestat did in his quest to find a companion, either intended or not, learnt from it, and did it better. Fans made gifs of similarities and differences between how Lestat approached Louis and Claudia approached Madeleine. And Jacob said, Claudia managed to figure out this vampirism is also what drives Louis to appreciate his life more. That maybe if they all trymorea with the time they have, they can live right like Claudia did. Claudia and Madeleine also showed Lestat how to love as an immortal companion. With these writers, I wouldn't be surprised they'll make a callback or reference to that moment. Claudia haunts them all. She really had the best qualities of her parents

I hear you. There's definitely a conversation to be had there. But that conversation needs to be had under the right circumstances and with understanding. Because that conversation can easily be turned into bad faith gender wars type of conversations. Which can be quite sexist and pointless.

Franklin

I agree with you ))

Franklin

Same here

Franklin

Yeah that's the heartbreaking part. They were so fucking happy

Franklin

Yes indeed. I may not have read the books but I'm forever thankful for how much the showrunners invested in these new portrayals of the characters. I've heard from so many fans how these are the characters that they imagine when they think of Louie, Claudia, Lestat etc

Franklin

I wonder if there’s a conversation to be had here about the nature of men vs that of women? The transformations we knew about prior to Madeline had all happened at hands of men, all were traumatic and driven by sex/lust. The one we witness transpire at the behest of a woman is calm, reassuring, and loving. Unfortunately, seems legit 🤷🏾‍♂️

Madeleine is another character who was vastly improved from the book! She was a flat character that I really didn't care about at all. They wrote this relationship so beautifully, and the filming of her turning is stunning to behold. I get emotional just thinking of her vision of Claudia. 🤩

Melissa

I still think that sentiment is true actually. Cuz although Madeleine's turning wasn't traumatic, her reasoning (outside of her caring for Claudia) is riddled with trauma. Her past, which led her to make the choice to turn (again outside of Claudia) is traumatic. Madeleine's vampiric existence was still born out of trauma because she saw that she had nothing left really. Her whole family was dead, she had endured the war, people doing awful things to her, and like she said there was "nothing left of her era". All of that informed her decision to turn, and the biggest driving factor was her love for Claudia. But her vampirism was still born out of trauma. But that's just how I interpret that line. Some people's actual turning is traumatic but others are brought to vampirism because of their trauma.

Myranda

Agreed 💯

Madeleine is an intersting character. I would have liked to see more of her.

Myra

And they both seemed to be so happy. Claudia just looked full of joy for the first time. That's so tragic. Blame on Armand.

Myra

True true :)) that was the piece I was thinking about. Everything surrounding her turning and the safety of it all that was provided by her companion and maker

Franklin

Definitely that! Be the change you want to see in the world but also while her transformation wasn‘t traumatic in and of itself, some very traumatic things happened to her before she was turned. Like the trial by mob and the attempted sexual assault. So one could say her vampiric self was born out of the tragedy that was her human self.
