Corrupt Lapis 1
Added 2017-06-02 10:34:22 +0000 UTCNot gonna lie, recent episodes have got me interested again lol. This definitely took a bit of time but glad to have finished the first part of this! Hope the results are satisfying enough for the wait but making sets/strips like this take a lot out of me. Was trying to listen to an audiobook about self-discipline while doing this which i so desperately need. great listen and awesome principles to live by, but can come off as emphatic and grandiose at times. Anyway, that's not the point, onto the piece itself! Drawing and rendering a "corrupted gem" was at first somewhat intimidating due to the hulking size and nature, having to ponder on how to render it as well due to this, but in the end i figured since it's mutated, i didn't necessarily have to be hardline accurate as i can be and then i just had a blast making all these droops and random masses of flesh on the character!
After the base rendering was complete, i get nervous yet again because it means it's time to do the liquids. However, i figured that if i spend too much on refinement of the liquids, i always tend to lose the momentum and energy of the liquids itself. so for this case, i tried to be as "stringy" and "whispy" as i could with the liquids which I always conflict myself with because i don't like using specks and white strings too often, but now i think i'm coming to terms with thinking that it's ok to do it c: plus it's much more fun. Last but not least, the background.
i chose the "bubble room" for the scene since i felt it fit the situation and it also provided a nice contrast in my opinion when it comes to colors. not much to say other than that honestly. hope you guys like!
