We are proud of this Milky Way nude!
Added 2020-08-18 22:52:08 +0000 UTCWe did plan to take some nude Milky Way shots in the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. As we were hiking in toward the Toadstool Hoodoos, we wondered if it would all be for naught. The sky was overcast. But, we pressed on. After about an hour on location the clouds began to dissipate. And, to our surprise the Milky Way was vertically aligning with a rather obviously phallic hoodoo. How serendipitous! Though there were still some clouds obscuring the MW core, we were proud of our execution and the creation of such a metaphoric image!
(BTW we do plan to return and nail the shot without the clouds....)

Hoodoos are naturally occurring formations where by softer material that more easily erodes away faster than a harder heavier rock that sits on top. These things are all over the AZ/UT border. Some look look like mushrooms, some look like cathedral spires, and some look like penises. HA!
