Hello my Sweethearts!
How are you doing? How is your working week going? Or maybe vacation?
I hope, you are in good spirit and strong heath.
Whenever I start my post from these words I feel like writing a letter like our grandparents did. I don't know why these words give me some sense of comfort. After all I'm really writing to my friends. :)
What I didn't expect from the country where I'm temporary staying (Kyrgyzstan), is the cold winter. Somehow we ended up having around -25 C freeze few days ago. It's still chilly outside, but now is bareable. Since it's my first winter outside of Russia, everything is new to me and feels way too different. For example, air is more humid here that's why freeze feels colder. Acording to news it's anomally.
Another thing that was new to me is how dirty air can be. For example acording to aqi.in the smog/dirt concentration level is 10 times above recommended. It feels like the only thing you breath is smoke. For example its around 221 in Bishkek and 55 in New York. And NY is 10 times bigger (maybe).
Aside from that street food is delicious and people are overall very friendly. )
Let's talk about our Yennefer.
This talk will be about "The Set".
It was very hard to find location for the shoot. One is too modern, other is plain empty room. Tao once found "witch's lodge" build from wood, with toy ravens, black cat and etc. Museum of traditional arts. But since it was located somewhere in the siberian forests, and he already left the country, It would be very hard for me alone to get there.
After long research we found slightly authentic place to shoot. Why slightly? The building itself was built around 100 years ago by some siberian merchant and interior had old design. The only thing that upset me were heating radiators installed in soviet times. And furniture was partially way too modern with "oldish" look.
It was still a good choice.
Since there was only half of Dzikan on the set, I didn't have enough "hands" to move furniture around and wasn't able to hide most of the modern parts of the set. It would take a lot of time to properly erase all unnecessary in frame, that's why you'll eventually see them. Heating radiators for example. But if you erase pipes and blur them, they may appear like just strange part of the wall design.
I hope. )
I really like how our Yennefer looks. Especially after Tao's hard post-production work.
What do you think? Please share your thoughts.
As I promised in my previous post, this post is better written and more consistent. Yey!
Before I go back to work, I would like to share small part of russian meme culture with you to make your day better. I personally like it very much. It's called "one who goes to the river" (my localization of the title "идущий к реке", because google translated the phrase like "going to the river"). Man shares his wisdom about meaning of life, human soul, past and future under the accompaniment of Hans Zimmer. In a bit blatant and rough manner.
