Technically he's a transgender boy, because I understand that he doesn’t intend to modify his body, only his appearance.

I see your point, but Hikaru dresses and sees himself as a boy, even though he was born a girl. That seems to point to him being transsexual, even through he still has a woman's body under the bandages and clothes. I feel like 'transsexual' should be a category with this one, because of that fact.

That’s a very good question you’re asking, John, especially because the categories we often use, and I include myself in this, to identify different sexual orientations are based on an outdated conception of gender—specifically, the identification of gender with biological sex at birth and the binary view of gender (male/female). If we consider that gender is not binary, we understand that there are multiple forms of expression beyond just male and female, where characteristics once associated with either gender are blended. A person may identify as male, female, a mix of both, or neither, regardless of their biological sex at birth. In this way, terms like heterosexual, homosexual, and bisexual lose their meaning as categories. We are living in a time when sexual orientation is not necessarily based on attraction to a specific biological sex (a category derived from heterosexual couples as the norm and homosexual couples as a 'deviation'/exception).
Now, going back to the story, considering the relationship between the two as 'heterosexual' could mean denying Hikaru’s (the red-haired character’s) self-perceived gender and viewing reality only through Riku’s (the black-haired boy’s) eyes. Viewing it as a 'homosexual' relationship would be the reverse, since we saw that Riku rejected sexual contact when he considered his friend to be male. Personally, and without claiming this is the best interpretation—because enjoying art involves multiple possible interpretations, its deconstructions, antitheses, syntheses, and syncretisms—it's not possible to use any of the classic conceptions of sexuality in this story. They are simply two people who like each other. Of course, I’d love to make a second part, but that will depend on how successful it is with my patrons on Patreon and DeviantArt.
Kisses.

As much as I like it too. I don't exactly think that's gonna happen

Part 2, please? I want to see (the one of studied abroad)'s reaction to fatherhood. Also, what is the sexuality of the crossdressing one? To me, he reads as trans and bisexual.
