The flashback to the moment when Kreese chokes Johnny in the parking lot appears to contain footage that was cut from The Karate Kid Part II.
According to the Netflix captions, Johnny yelled "You fuck!” at Kreese.
They got permission from Pat Morita’s family to do the scene of Mr. Miyagi and gave them creative control of the scene with his likeness.
With that in mind, I’m ok with the use. This is not knew and has been done going all the way back to Superman 2 (1980) with Marlon Brando (Jor El).
For myself I thought the CGI was amazing, it looked absolutely real. In fact I thought was better than the job they did in the Mandalorian series.
I get it was a sort of homage to the first KK movie, but with it being a leg injury and the medic using the exact same words that were used in the KK1. I felt it was too on the nose. I feel at least make it a different injury at not at the request of Silver but just an accident.
At first I didn’t like Sam pulling out but after Daniel’s speech to her about Mr. Miyagi and how he had taught Daniel karate not to fight but so that he wouldn’t have to fight. That is right from the scene in KK1 while Daniel was balancing on the bow of the boat learning balance.
I predicted that Miquel would come back to fight in Cobra Kai. It just made sense as soon as they said that Cobra Kai had no male fighter to enter.
The scene between Johnny and Kreese was very touching. It didn't come across to me as romantic, more father son reconciliation kind of thing.

I guess I'm just not bothered by them bringing Miyagi back, probably because it's only in dream sequences and it's not like his character faked his death and is coming back. I understand people that have an issue with it but I'm just not one of them.
I think the twist of them rejoining Cobra Kai was a good one, because the show is about Cobra Kai and what Johnny has done to make it better. Him, Miguel and Tory have grown so much as characters and it will be cool to see them in the finals.

Shan: Cobra Kai is better than the movies... there I said it!
Ya, I have to agree with you, and I did love the original trilogy, especially the first movie

The family did agree to it so i dont think theres any moral issues with it. In a way i feel like it respects his legacy.

I don't know what to say about this damn episode... Robby always getting done wrong in these tournaments... #2 in the show when it comes to him, and Miguel, and #2 overall when it comes to karate tournaments...
I hated the scene with Johnny and Kreese towards the end 😒 I mean there couldn't have been a manlier way to express how they felt? I don't know... It just felt not natural?
I mean the emotions Johnny gave is 4 years too late in my opinion... I just feel like the show is coming to a end so they needed that dramatic ick...
I rather Johnny kept it simple after realizing, and talking to Daniel, and be like...
"You expect me to forgive you?"
"I tried that, and you let me down again"
"You was someone I truly looked up too, and tried my best not to let down as a kid"
"When things didn't go our way you turned on me. You not only turned on me, but you turned against me!"
As Johnny is talking (with no tears😒) giving facts of what happened it would've been better if Kreese started tearing up as he heard all the fucked up shit he did to his "favorite student".
Then once Johnny sees that he'll realize maybe just MAYBE Kreese does feel bad, because he's never cried before. Then Kreese could've said
"I wish there was something I could do" or whatever the fuck he said after that eye poking hug of "forgiveness" 😒
That's when the Cobra Kai thing at the end starts. Well... That's what I think should've happened between those two this episode...
As far as Daniel, and Miyage goes... I hated that too... Until I realized it was a Dream! I swear for a second I thought they was turning Cobra Kai into sci fi dealing with magic, and shit 😂 I don't know why I didn't clock that it was a dream, because I normally catch that with a snap of a finger.
Bringing a dead actor back sucks, but in this I didn't mind, because it was a small part for a dream. Not only that, but I think they ran out of flashbacks of advice Daniel could use. I don't know... I guess for this I'm 51 out of 49...
So.... The girl in the audience with the paint on her face... Was that Amanda!? Or am I crazy?
I love how they always do the warm massage call back on here lol. It's such a classic, and original scene.
I see why they listed all of Robby's accomplishments in his personal life on the show, because he was going to lose again... 😒
You know..... We been wanting Cobra Kai to die for a long time, but the fact of the matter is we are watching a show named for bad guys..... I don't think there's ever been another show like that before where the Name of it is where the bad guys are. Pretty good twist 👌🏾

I am firmly against digitally recreating a dead actor it feels inherently disrespectful.
