Regarding the end of the story: I remember it was the only part of it I didn't enjoy so much, because IMHO, it negated in some way all the characters' evolution through the story.

In my younger years I was obsessed with Dungeons and Dragons and always loved the idea of players being drawn into their game. So, I wrote this little ditty. I found the manuscript again some a year or so ago after Amazon banned me, but I couldn't find the cover and had long thought about rewriting the ending. Well, the ending is the same as before! I couldn't ever figure out how to change it exactly. I haven't played any role-playing games in years though I still have all my Advanced Dungeons and Dragons books plus my trusty collection of polyhedral dice! It's gratifying to me that some young people have gotten back into roleplaying and it has also appeared in shows like Stranger Things. It's just too bad they have no idea what a mind flayer looks like!
