That's a tough question, honestly. I mean Spike was an evil thing for over a century (close to 2) so DOES getting his soul back and saving the world (after a few weeks) atone for all that? Angel's been "saving the world" for a long time. And like he said, he's had a lot longer than Spike to "live" with having a soul and deal with all the horrors he did and trying to atone. The thing is, once Spike realized he was in love with Buffy, he started trying to become a better man and that was over a year before the very end. And really, how long do you have to do good to counteract for all the bad you've done? Is it ever enough?
