A Bronx Tale (1993)

A Bronx Tale (1993)

The actor who played Sonny was actually "C" in real life lol. He wrote this based on his childhood. Dope reaction as always MJ!! Thank you!!

Mom yelling "Lorenzo please!" Out the window for him to keep the money might be why she's not in the picture when C gets older. Either she went with a guy with more dough, or Lorenzo saw her true colors and "troo" her out you know. 😄

Damn I see how that came across but as a black man I'm also gonna say personal responsibility is a factor as well. I know other communities men leave their families too. But they don't have the history we have all the shit that we've been through as a race in this country alone. A black father leaving his house has more consequences than a white man because the bond we should have with each other. White men that abandon the family don't have to deal with the same thing that black families have to. It's under the same line of thinking. Like why cops should have race training because of the fucked up history you have to learn different ways to speak to different people because of the past. I am a black man and I am not saying we are the villains because honestly we are the dominoes. I wouldn't get mad at the dominoes for falling over. I would get mad at the hand that pushed them. But as far as family goes. There are dominoes who no matter what will stay with the pack because the pack needs them. Listen I've seen people lose their life from taking a life even when they were told not to do it and they didn't have to do it. Yes the "founders" of this country ( keeping it pg cause I don't want the white people to be on my ass) set everything up perfectly so that even after we are "free" we still fall into their trap and do what they designed ages ago. How long do you stay mad at the bully before you get mad at the kid who's being bullied for not fighting back? How long do you allow yourself to keep getting beat and not doing anything about it? No, it's not your fault. You're getting beat up but it is your responsibility to make sure that you keep yourself safe and we don't do that because honestly a lot of us don't take accountability. I for one refuse to fall into the white man's trap that was set hundreds of years ago. I'm not going to lie. There are white people who truthfully are not aware of how systemic problems work because as far as they're concerned, they've been nothing but kind to everyone their entire life and they don't realize that their ancestors set up a plan. So well that unless they choose to eradicate it, it'll continue to go on and if they don't realize it, we're going to have to try and better ourselves

I actually didn’t disagree about it happening towards the end of the 70s. I disagreed with how it happened which is why I brought up the Moynihan Report. It’s explained there. And yeah we’re still dealing with the ramifications of it all today. There’s really nothing to disagree with. I disagreed with vilifying black men. And as far as some black men speaking about black women in a negative light, black men have been getting disparaged on national media and basically told we weren’t needed by our own women during that era. And now we see the results and some unfortunately don’t have kind words for them. Not saying it’s a good thing but it was a natural result

I'm not saying that we are the only race that does it I'm just saying it was orchestrated and it was executed in the people who set it up succeeded because the destruction of the black family is and has been a lasting impact for the past 50 years which is a true statement and even in my own life seeing black men that are with white women I never get upset with them if they're with the woman because they love them I get upset with them when they're with a white woman because they don't like black women and whenever you hear them speak about black women it's always in the most negative light and I'm not saying this for all black men married to white women just the ones who have nothing but negativity to say towards black women. And if you think the breakdown of the black household didn't start towards the end of the '70s you haven't been doing the research and I respectfully disagree with your take. And you proved my point prior to the '70s it is what you said and I said yeah after the '70s the breakdown of the black family

This a great reaction & i love how you go into movies blind. The lines in this movie have been used by rappers on their mixtapes & albums. Here’s a fun fact: Jane played by Taral Hicks was also in Belly.

Nah. This isn’t what happened and it’s honestly a weird and messed up thing to say about black men. Prior to the 70s we were more likely to be married than white men. If you read the Moynihan Report it would tell you that even though most black men were gainfully employed in the 70s, government assistance was chosen over having a man in the home and created a trend of us not getting married. Our wages even increased hence the Moynihan Scissors. We didn’t just up and leave. Fast forward today there’s studies that show black fathers are more involved than other groups and another study where black women confirm it. There’s also no data to show that we were going after white women. We date and marry black women most of the time. Even though it’s becoming less taboo for us to date out

Funny enough the actor that played Sonny is the one who wrote the play and is also about his life

C's Friends in the car talking about how they hate black people but they're listening to Jimi Hendrix. That's what I realize all the times where they talking about how they don't like black people. All the artists playing on the radio that of the music that they like is black 😂

In MJ I agree with you but when you talked about black women on Twitter. Getting mad at black men for being with white women. It's a thing that's not known outside of our community, but after the '70s, especially around the time of cocaine flooding, the streets, black men. We left our homes and our wives and our children and everything and pretty much abandoned the community and then went over to be with white women. So if you love somebody just for the sake of being in love with them, then yes that's fine. But if you're with someone because you do not like your own people, it's sad you should be able to love somebody and not involve hatred of yourself in it. So if you love a white person that's good. But make sure you love your people as well. But if you're with another race because you don't like your own, that's when I have a problem. But the black woman you were talking about are bitter because for 50 years now we just upped and left them and left our community in ruin and left them to deal with it and that's why you see black women get so heated when they see me certain black men with white women

mondawmin mall

What's so funny about this is that Robert de Niro likes black women. So him saying "I think we should marry our own" is funny in a meta kinda way. Because he's married and been in relationships with strictly black women
