Extended The Song That Changed EVERYTHING For Earth Wind & Fire

Today we're going to talk about the Earth Wind & Fire song that changed the trajectory of their career, came out of a terrible flop of a movie, and would go on to be one of their best songs.

NOTE: This is the Extended Edit, which is 5 mins longer than the YouTube Edit

This one was just some quick googling! You have to sort though some sketchy sites, but you can usually find a lot of older stuff like this

Brandon Shaw

This is an old episode at this point, but where did you manage to get the stems for this song??

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1kvvX8HBG0&ab_channel=DiggingTheGreats Loved seeing this early episode - early set, numerous comedic elements. I was surprised I had not see it. (EWF/Beatles cover episode).

2:12 hearing the full songs is massive for me tbh, love that you have full creative control with it

Daft

"Don't call it a soundtrack!" LOL!

Rashaud Alexander

I'm not a mix engineer, comic book artist, or martial artist, if you're thinking of any of those famous Phil Tans.

Philip Tan

I TOTALLY got the "don't call it a soundtrack! We been hear 4 years " cross intoLLL's classic intro to MSKYO! πŸ’―

TheNationsRListening

The bass part was awesome

Dugg

The singing though - you got chops! (P. S. : I am also in the Venn diagram for that joke 😁)

My CHILDHOOD thanks to my late Pops!!! He had me hip to the EWF movement at a early age! Rest Easy Pops! One of his favorite bands of all time!

DaS!lent1

Andrew Sanchez

Lui Bomett

This is why I'm here with you on patreon! Love it

Shoom

I'm in the middle of the venn diagram, and got a chuckle out of the joke!

Fantastic ending (this is what makes you stand out B.), more please! ps. the flick is on AMAZP. for a few bucks. Gritty NYC streetscapes, with EWF music playing; HarvyK. playing a 70s JimmyIovine producer character (showcasing what music producers of yesterYear did and how valuable they were); classic music biz, art v. commerce narrative/stereoTyping and hilarious, idot white execs. with no taste, out of sync with black culture/music and only in sync with money; Frankie Crocker Djing the real...I like it. Especially looking back 45 years or so... Yeah, the singing is out of sync a bit in the opening sequences, and overall, it's schlocky...but it's worth watching if one likes 70s cinema...HarveyJimmyI. is going on a hero's journey against all the "yes men". Are the music biz stereotypes and tropes in this flick any worse than the streetCulture ones in Shaft et al.? Curious why you disliked it so much, B.? Ok, it did fizzle in the second act forward, lol. Still, there is a lot here historically.

one day all will be revealed
