This week in the Forest! #8

This week I worked on coding a new game mechanic that allows critters to travel around the forest for random chance encounters! It ties into the recently rewritten quest and triggering systems (so all those rules/triggers can be applied as needed) and into another planned game mechanic that we'll reveal later. <w<
This travel system lets us define triggers and spawn points to move critters around the forest into any scene, and also to randomize where they stand in front of their homes. Critters will automatically move from place to place during a quest (this kind of movement was previously hand-scripted) or by a random chance (letting us trigger rarer easter egg conversations).
There's a lot of nuance needed to maintain the immersion, like making sure critters aren't inside a house one moment and suddenly outside as soon as you walk through the door. (eg They need 'travel time' to make it believable.) I have to account for other systems (like scripted cutscenes) that also want to spawn characters and make sure there's no competing rules. So far, the new travel system is about 50% done and works already for my test cases! I'm aiming to make it more robust after Christmas and hopefully get an example or two into the next build. ^^

Let's talk Story!
So onto my side, i've finished up the polishing on our Act 2 Capstone quest - and have started fleshing out more gossips/side content! I've also started the document for Act 3 :O! Just gathering our thoughts on what we have planned, and specific keypoints to nail. We have the general arch all planned out, but now we can start getting into the nitty gritty.
I've also written up a bit of Mabel's story, gotta finish it up though - and started writing Lanora's part 2 dialogue :>
Probably did another 10 or so pages of documents this week. Made a few more portraits to accommodate for some expressions on some critters etc etc.

I did wanna mention, I have been streaming more often these days and would like to keep that up. Be sure to follow Vixel and I for notifications!
Animation-wise, The bunny 3-way scene was a bit on the back seat while I was addressing some of the writing stuff, but now all of Peter's loops are done! I'll be doing his transitions later today, then it's cast-shadow and cum time!
Other than that, I finished Mabel's story art! Here's a sneak peak!

As ya saw in the sketches posted last week, we're trying something slightly new with this one :>!
