Big Poll Followup (& News)
Added 2023-08-08 21:07:02 +0000 UTCThanks so much to everyone who voted in the poll and shared their thought, I really appreciate it! And while I don't like pushing all these polls to you so fast, I really want to strike while the hammer is hot here. To that end, I have a simply poll here that will affect what happens after the release of Costumed in October, and here it is:
Would you like to see two large comics run side by side with 50 page comic updates each week (Monday & Friday)? The comics would be the final 800 pages of Dress Up running along side 800 pages of Once Upon a Time in Hanover. This means it would take four months instead of two to complete each story instead of one after the other only taking two months each. This would only be a trial and we'd reassess after February.

Also, there will be a big change coming in Costumed, and I thought it worth mentioning before it happens. I'm unsure if I'm mentioned this before, but I have an essential tremor I've been dealing with on a daily basis since 2011. It's not bad and I'm still capable, but recently the finesse of lettering comics has become a little difficult.
In addition to that, I have certain learning deficiencies that make following comics difficult. Honestly, it was only discovering the one panel comics on TG Comics that really allowed me to follow comics without getting lost in the flow of layout, which is why I do it now for my own work.
Lastly, I'm a huge fan of Movies and Television, which means my visual language is steeped in framing full images that don't need to make room for text bubbles. It's sometimes not very fun to make an image you know is framed crazy just because you know you have to get a text bubble or caption in there.
So:

With Costumed: Darkest Knight I'll be moving to subtitles, and there are three big reasons why outside of what I mentioned above:
- Using subtitles would allow me to easily have my comics available on Video. That's always been the dream, and this brings me one step closer to that.
- There are a lot of people who want to read this on their phone, and this makes that viable.
- This would allow me to hire people to translate the comic into other languages without worrying about how it would affect text layout and flow.
There is one thing that's come of this already, and I want to be plain and upfront about it: Comics will be 20-40% longer simply due to this change. I just want people to understand this is about accessibility and ease of use, not an attempt to pad out my stories to fill a quota.
Please let me know if you have any questions about that or anything else, or maybe you'd like to talk about Persona 5 Royal? I took the dive after missing the turned base battles in FF16, and I fucking love Persona now. I can't wait to play 4 after this and 3's remake next year.
Anyway... thanks for being here! :D

2 comic chapters per week gives more variety. One update per week is a bit boring. But most importantly the answer is whatever works for you. I just to watch an internet series called super mario bros z, which started on 2006. It was a series of short videos using super mario and sonic characters, animated with sprites and pretty much following plot of dragon ball z. The artist said that at first it was really fun project and he got a lot of fans but then I guess he tried to please his fans too much. He ended up hating his fans who were always demanding another episode and decided to cancel the whole series. My advice is to you should take care of yourself and dont focus too much on what fans want to see and just focus on your artistic views.

As far as the 20-40% longer, that just means the same panel a few times with different dialog at the bottom right?
