In order to draw the genitalia of Rhyperior, I studied the actual genitalia of rhinoceroses. They were almost unmodified in their normal state, and depending on the photograph, many of them were small or had been assimilated into the outer skin, making them indistinguishable. When expanded, some individuals have large protrusions on both sides, which are thought to act as plugs.
