Araragi just be subconsciously avoiding stuff, he did the same with Kiss-shot being a killer in kizu and a few other times through the show, it's just now we are focusing on that flaw more heavily in owari with Ougi dragging it all up for some reason. Also some say, him only having one eye showing is a intentional character design reference to that flaw.
