2026-01-19 00:59:36 +0000 UTCThe Dewey Cox variety show scene was on point. The variety show was looked at like a step down in show business when the career was drying up. Michael Jackson thought it was corny when he and his brothers AND sisters had to do them to keep the brand alive. Sonny & Cher did it, Dolly Parton and the The Brady Bunch amongst others. Judy Garland did it when her cash was low and had a grueling experience trying to act young and happy.
