Wicked premise. Good movie. I wasn't expecting the kids either. Especially since they were in the home movies. Loved your reaction!

Fun fact: the word "sinister" is just based on the Roman word for "left." It didn't have spooky or evil connotations until early Christians decided that left-handed people must be agents of the devil.

This was a great, freaky, ๐คฌ up movie! I agree, our boy here really put his family--as we now know--at extreme risk! I had to laugh a little during the argument with his wife: "No, honey...no one was killed in the house! It happened right there on the front steps!" WTF! ๐ Just insane how he kept trying to NOT make it sound as horrific as it really was!
I also liked Off. So and So. He started out being Off. Wise Ass, then turned into Off. Pretty Helpful.
Early on I'd be asking myself questions, like "does ANYONE turn a friggin' light on???" only to have you ask the exact same question not ten seconds later, it was pretty funny.
Prof. Jonas was played by Vincent D'Onofrio, who played Pvt. Leonard 'Gomer Pyle' Lawrence in Full Metal Jacket.
The early pics of Mr. Boogie looked a bit to me like the Black Phone mask, though not so much at the end...and you're jump scare F-Bomb was awesome...very raw and real!
When the Mrs. was making her coffee at whatever point that was, she was using a French Press. You put course coffee grounds in the bottom of the press, add hot water, wait for it to steep, then push the plunger/filter down which holds down the grounds, then you pour the coffee. My only experience with a French Press was oddly enough when I had gone to Ireland. Whenever I'd order coffee at a restaurant, they'd serve it in a French Press.
