Likely not if you are or associate as female - but it's a very serious problem for many authors, even some as famous as Stephen King. In this article I dive into some of the mistakes made, offer some advice on how to fix it and hopefully help you understand that female characters need to be more than looks and plot devices.
If anyone wants it, I'm happy to write a companion piece in the future detailing some of the problems that can be had with people writing male points of view, because believe me when I say there are some terrible examples of that out there as well. More than a few examples of both in this article.
