One Week Rest 19th - 25th

Hi all

Sorry to bring out the poor news - I know I owe a one-shot and a writing article this month - but I need to take a break from writing next week, from Monday 19th to Sunday 25th. The reason for this is partly due to a work event I have on the 29th that I need to step in Monday and take over because everyone has been making excuses and it's poorly organised. I will be stuck all week in meetings and going around fixing things, and I feel like I won't have time to write. Probably won't get home until 7pm each night.

The other reason is because the stress over this event is making me frustrated - which is a perfectly reasonable emotional response. I'm angry at our staff for being so unprofessional, and that's bleeding over into my personal life. Trying to write when angry and stressed out over something leaves me getting angry at writing, and that's not good. Not only does it mean I write bad chapters, but it can make me snappy and rushed, because I'm treating everything like it has to be smashed out as quick as possible regardless of quality. 

As such, I will be taking a week off from writing to rest and recuperate and get all this work stuff sorted out. This will hopefully let me come back a little more relaxed, a little calmer and a lot more ready to get back into enjoying writing. I do love what I do and write, but it's just hard to remember that when my mobile is going off, emails are pinging, and people are throwing hundreds of questions my way on how we're going to get this event done and whether we can postpone it. Of course they want to postpone it - they don't realise the company needs the profit, and they don't want to do it. Gah!
