Writing Article - December - Fanfiction

Here is the December Article. The one shot for those of the requisite level will come tomorrow.

This article is all about Fanfiction itself, discussing my experiences in how it has helped me become a better writer and hopefully showing a few of you how you can use fanfiction to improve your own writing as well.  With this being the last article of 2019, it's timely - and perhaps one or two of you can make it a near years resolution to start your own fanfic in 2020.

Beyond helping improve your technique, I also discuss how Fanfiction can help you get into a writing career, acting as a kick start on a webnovel or book of your own.

I'm not a writer, but this was still a really interesting and sensible article to read! It's rather funny to hear you don't like the direction the new Volume's taking. There's definite flaws, but so MUCH of what's happened reminded me of your stories! Particularly "Relic of the Future" (my current favorite). Ironwood as a recurring character and sympathetic ally, a professional team of Huntsmen like Team October, political drama taking a look at society, and protagonists dubiously keeping secrets. I'd actually been hoping that RWBY would eventually BECOME something closer to your works, so I'm having a good time. The big difference being that Rooster Teeth feels like they need to move things along way too quickly. We haven't been getting enough casual banter and developmental conversations, an aspect which you also do well. At the risk of sounding stupid... for a few years now, I've thought to myself "Rooster Teeth should reach out to Coeur al'Aran as a consultant or something." Even though writing for an animated series and writing a book are two different beasts. With this Volume, I'd really been suspecting that it'd finally happened.
