2024-12-15 21:32:55 +0000 UTCI want to focus on the kagehina, because that’s obviously the focus here, but Oikawa’s line about omegas cut so deep and I couldn’t help but fixate on it because it spoke VOLUMES about him in just a single line and now I’m dying to hear more about his blooming experience. It had to be so difficult for someone with such a dominant personality like Tooru who was predisposed to present as Alpha only to present as an omega because he bloomed for Hajime. And I know he loves Hajime so deeply that there can be no real room for regret when it comes to him; but that doesn’t mean he wouldn’t feel disappointment so bone deep for being an omega when it’s inherently reflected as a “weaker” gender and he hates to be seen as weak in any capacity. I am dying to know what went through his head, what Hajime might have needed to help him through, what Tooru had pull himself out of because, let’s be honest, he’s so fiercely independent that he’d have to do some of it himself… but I’ll get off my IwaOi soapbox now. KAGEHINA! The imagery here is absolutely STUNNING. With the vines and the thorns and the way they glow and release with every comforting word, every affirmation that Tobio utters. All the confirmation that Shouyou needs to know that he matters, that releases those binds of anxiety and despair and the feeling of not being enough. I love how it’s portrayed in his mind and how, despite the fact that he feels Tobio didn’t want him, he’s still this large, encompassing presence in his mind because he’s HIS. He’s important. And he loves him. And he needs him. And Tobio’s words of affirmation and love are what he needs. And when Shouyou finally opens his eyes I could just sob because it’s so emotional and Tobio’s display of emotion is so beautiful because the way he goes about it is so him. It’s so forceful and so demanding, but so loving and so sure. It’s heartbreaking that it took this moment, but Tobio really is amazing when under pressure.

The raw emotions, the way you portrayed Shouyou's self-doubt as spiky vines, Tooru's slight bitterness and protectiveness, Tobio's expressions... The moment the penny dropped. Especially between Kagehina, it's so easy for them to take their implicit understanding of each other to mean that they don't need to be clear about their feelings or thoughts. The other will always get it. But... They're only human (and omega to boot in Shouyou's case, with all the vulnerability that brings). This was such a brilliant exploration of key themes in omegaverse and their relationship in canon. Thank you! 🙂↕️👏
