March '23 Showcase: VK45.01(P) / Tiger (P) R&D Tracks
Added 2023-03-26 20:02:48 +0000 UTCThis is the major or common type of tracks used during development of the Tiger (P). There was an initial design as well, requireing us to use different idler and drive sprockets (Scheduled for Q2 '23).
This package does build two patterns: At first the Tiger (P) was equipt with single type track links all around, each one having a guide horn.
It turned out to be less than ideal and therefore the guide horn was cut away on every other link. I agree on this being a lesser track pattern, nevertheless if you want to capture one more detail in your build, now you can.
As further development a new track link without guide horn was introduced later. The link with guide horn was used throughout the production of the Ferdinand, eventually being replaced with a later iteration.
The design is based on factory drawings by Porsche, I reworked my inital release from March '21 adding aditional detail that can be observed on the Ferdinand tank destroyer preserved in Moscow / Kubinka or was omitted at first release due to low resolution printers back than and shifted some geometry around to make up for the differences in drawings vs production.
This design is now future proof. Further I reworked the wiggling room between links for best 1/35th scale fit and introduced fully detailed half-length track pins - now with retainer rings - as well as wire hinge and click-system varinat for you to choose from.
I tested the fit on Dragon, Zwezda, Italeri and Amusing Hobby / Das Werk.
The files are available to Standard-Tier STL-Level patrons in October '23 and to those who are still active from back in October 2021 (now early bird).
