I'm going to write just a little expanded update feed since I haven't had a chance to explain all that's going on. So here's a nicely sectioned update:
I should probably update everyone on Annie's upcoming content. A lot of changes have been made to her script but not to change the identity of the character. There are some changes to the tone of the main character and more player freedom to talk to Annie in different ways. The story is a lot more sandboxy and rewards consistent behaviors and treatments. Some of the changes made are:
Annie now has 2 traits instead of 1. Before she was just a good/bad girl based on how you respond but now she's got that plus a sub/dom stat. Most dialogue options chip at her personality and the more consistent you are, the more bonus scenes you receive.
Annie will interact with the main story differently based on how you're engaging with her throughout the story. This will give her a lot of replayability as there are 4 potential behavior themes she can fall in to. These reflect the most in the main story scenes.
Apart from main story events playing out differently based on how you engage with Annie, there are hidden storylines that progress if you're consistent with above. So for example, if you want to corrupt Annie, you'll need to try to max out her deviousness over many dialogues. And as you do it, you will come across scenes where Annie becomes increasingly comfortable with depravity. The same applies to the other 3 stats.
So do you want Annie to cross the border of no return and become a dominant seductress? Or perhaps you want Annie to retain her cute little innocent mouse personality. Or maybe something in between, like becoming a brat who needs to be put in her place.
To scope the increase in size, it is about 3 times bigger in terms of content and with a lot more direction. If you guys like this kind of storytelling structure, I may revise all previous scripts and make them more sandboxy too, though that will take a while. So for now I will continue working on it.
It's not a Kuro update if there isn't news on delay lol... My artist is off for a week on vacation so I won't be able to push out the update until he's back. Also the art process is typically faster than script writing so it probably won't delay things by much. The script is nearly done so I'll be able to move towards the next parts so this includes starting the reboot on Emma's script.
So I've been thinking about the structure of the game and how the update cycles are working. Since there are 8 characters (planned, 6 atm) and an entire update cycle can take up to 4 months to return to one character (at most). So that's obviously way too long because you wont see your favorites for a very long time, plus I have to revise and refresh where I left off after not touching a particular script for a long time.
So the changes to the game are going to be as follows.
Emma's story will have a total reboot and become a premium character.
Victoria will be removed from the game.
If character 8 happens it will probably be a very distant update, and potentially on a new updated engine.
So this way we will have only 6 characters to work on per full update cycle. Since the game consists of shorter stories, some planned to be shorter than others, it will give us increasing amounts of time to work on the longer scripts. I think these changes would be better for everyone. But if you had any comments, questions or suggestions, please let me know below.
