2025-03-19 12:31:33 +0000 UTCEpisode 1 comments: My very simplistic understanding, as someone who has not played the games, is that the Fallout world is a retro futuristic version of ours where the path of the economy, society and technological advances differed with stagnation in some areas and growth in others. That’s why we see lots of 50’s stuff but then they have robots and those wrist things (called “Pip-boys”). Again, super simplified version of that part of the lore. But that’s the basics. Based on the reactions I watched of people who played the game, they did a phenomenal job of bringing the world of Fallout to life, so yes fans of the game were absolutely geeking out watching this, even though it’s an entirely unique storyline with characters we don’t know. I actually agree with you that the Vault-dwellers are like Innies in a way. I also was excited to see Dylan (Zach Cherry) in this and yes I also call him Dylan lol. I can’t recall what his characters name is in this.. he’s Dylan. This show brings us lots of questions but it’s also excellent about giving us answers. I’m excited for you to go on this journey. I started later than I intended so I will need to pause on Ep 2 until tomorrow. I’m sure I’ll have more commentary after that 😹 Oh post-comment edit: The show takes place in what was the Los Angeles area. When Lucy sees the water, that’s the Pacific Ocean with the remains of Santa Monica pier in the distance. Just to give you a geographical POV. ALSO.. I would be very careful about what you look up, because trust me you don’t want to accidentally spoil yourself.

Fallout New Vegas definitely should be your next pick. If you want, you can play Fallout 76 - the online multiplayer one - with me! I'd love to show you the ropes and get you back into gaming again as a whole.

My guess on the Ghoul is that something happened to his daughter that he wants to avenge?? I wonder if you get to choose to play the game as one of these characters? The world building is really good for a first time viewer. I loved how the underground world was stuck in the 50s (I think it seemed like the 50s). It's reminding me a bit of Silo, too. I really hope we find out for certain that Maximus did not put that in their shoe. :/

There are a bunch of Easter eggs but they do a great job of introducing everything you need to know through the show. Each Fallout game is its own story and most set up in a new location from the last so this one is just following that tradition. If you haven’t already, I wouldn’t look up anything because it could spoil or hint towards some of what is happening here. Also the actress playing Lucy here and Jackie in YJ is also Jinx in Arcane, in case you didn’t know!
