I'm so glad Frank brought me to you lmao, it's like you're in my head, like MA'AM just tell him what to expect and he won't freak out

The song that is being whistled by the Lumon employee in the beginning of this episode is "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" now maybe someone in charge just loves Gordon Lightfoot, or maybe the line "the lake it is said never gives up her dead when the skies of November turn gloomy" is implying something.... just speculating over here.

The performance review was a great display of both general corporate BS and the micro aggressions that Black people and other people of color experience in society as well as in the corporate environment, and I appreciate the hell out of your commentary on it.
To your point on Milchick dumbing himself down after receiving his performance review, I can definitely relate in a different way. I’m autistic, when I was a kid I developed an expansive vocabulary from lots of reading and watching shows that were way above my age range. I used big words and odd phrases that often caused me to be “othered” amongst my peers, and from that learned to mask myself by dumbing down what I said or not saying things at all. All so I could fit better.
Regarding Helena at the restaurant, I have gone back and forth with myself on her motivations. The look she gives Mark when she stands there as he’s getting ready to leave feels like she’s trying to implore him with her eyes to remember her. But then, why did she bring up his wife and call her the wrong name? She’s too calculated for that to have been unintentional.
As for Burt, he’s absolutely got a bigger Lumon connection than just being a severed person, and now Drummond knows Irving has research on severance, so I’m worried about what is going to happen with Irv.
I’m down for weekly reactions but totally support whatever schedule works best for you.

Just finished episode 5 and it was a good one. The pace felt really good on this one. There were a lot of different things going on that captured my interest.

I definitely vote for weekly reactions for Severance, I feel like that’s just how the show is meant to be watched - we suffer from the cliffhangers together 🤝 (but of course whatever works best for you)
Also so excited for The Good Place finale tomorrow!

Oh also, I’m a two comments gal today haha, I’d love for you to do these weekly because you’re one of my favorite reactors and the first thing I do after a new episode airs is go watch my favorites’ reactions! But like Melissa said, do whatever is best for you!

I don’t know if I believe Helena informed many, if any, people that she was going down as herself. We don’t have an explicit answer on that. It comes across in Woe’s Hollow that Milchick knows but part of me also still wonders about that because it took him a minute to tell them to turn off the Glasgow block.
I think her going down there was a mix of being jealous of Helly, and also wanting to know what they were up to after the Overtime Contingency.
And yes Irv said “just remember, hang in there” to Dylan! He put the directions Felicia gave him to the exports/testing floor hall.
I love the commentary on Milchick and the paitings/nitpicky shit they call out at his performance review. I do feel like Natalie’s face says a lot more than her words do. She’s definitely not okay with some of this stuff but you know both of them have sacrificed parts of themselves to be a part of this company. I’m really really glad they’ve included this conversation in the show and please don’t stop pausing to talk about it! I wanna hear what you have to say!

I thought so at first, but at this point I’ve come to assume that any reintegration moments are going to be shown to us. Now they definitely want us to see some of the bleed-thru in episode 5 because innie Mark says “he’s not dead, he’s just not here” then outie Mark says “she’s not dead, she’s just not here” but I think it’s more on a subconscious level.

Does anyone else read Mark's face in the elevator (Did you tell her you F'ed her outie at the ORTBO?) to suggest that he didn't remember it (as in, he's having integration flashes and doesn't remember)? The confused facial expression could be surprise that Milchick is being so blatantly aggressive and using course language, but I've been wondering . . .

He's such a great character, and his actor, Tramell Tillman, is amazing, too. I'm not Black, but I'm very glad they decided to explore that aspect of corporate culture. I remember reading that, during the filming of season 1, Tillman asked the writers if Milcheck knows he's Black, that's such a great way to raise the question of race in a fictional story.

I vote for doing them weekly, but whatever is best for your schedule. There are 10 episodes, so you could do 7-8 then 9-10.
13:54 Correct. It's been Helena since episode 1 of Season 2 -- ever since the OTC in the S1 finale. Helena has been a mole and pretending to be Helly. So, it was technically Helena who slept with Mark's innie.
Thank you for speaking on the "big words" topic. I don't have that lived experience, but it is very clear that the show is commenting on racial inequities. This man tells Milchick he's using big words while he himself (and everyone else at Lumon) uses elevated and antiquated language constantly. It's insulting AF - - to keep Milchick "in his place" as they see it.
John Noble who plays Fields, Burt's husband, was in "Fringe" and also played Denethor in LotR.
