SEVERANCE S2 EP 3-4 REACTION

SEVERANCE S2 EP 3-4 REACTION

Comments

My interpretation of Helena’s actions is layered. First, why would she cede power back to Helly when Helly did everything she could to destroy her? Second, I’m sure The Board had a call in whether it was Helly or Helena that went in. And third, can you imagine growing up an Eagan? Based on the minor moments we saw of Helena and her father, it’s clearly not a warm and loving relationship. She throws Irv’s loneliness at him like a weapon, and hurt people hurt people, so I imagine she has her own level of loneliness given her standing in the real world. When she saw the footage of Helly kissing Mark, she looked at it like someone starving for that kind of interaction. So I think part of the decision was purely selfish, to go in as “Helly” and not be herself or be known as an Eagan, to have some kind of anonymity and freedom, and experience what it’s like to not be who she has had to become.

It drove me crazy that the previous episode ended with the reintegration of Mark and suddenly the storyline with the team development in the snow came up. How does that fit in with the timing? And was the message that outie Irving said his innie got on the phone about Helena or was it something else entirely? 🤔 Please don't let them erase Irving, I like Irving. 😭 And it was so sweet how Felicia, who was so distant before, now opened up to Irving and they both mourned Burt together and shared memories. 💗 The scene with Seth and the pictures was so awkward. 😣 So he can't identify enough with Kier because he's black and therefore “different” and the pictures have to be adapted so that Lumon's philosophy fits for him too? Please what???

Hellys actress is incredible, the way her facial expressions and behaviour is slightly different. I think Helena saw what Helly had (love, friendship, how freely she expressed herself) and wanted to experience that as well. When we see her on the outside she never really shows real emotions, very controlled and probably very unhappy. I'm curious to learn more about Helenas relationship with her father and how she truly feels about Lumon and being an Eagon.

I've gone backwards and forwards this season between believing it was Helena and Helly, but Irving was suspicious from the get go. His performance in this episode was outstanding - in fact the whole episode was outstanding. When he was having his dream and he saw the letters come together on his computer to spell Eagan and form the outline of Helly's face, I think that's the moment he knew for sure. I personally prefer when you do weekly episodes rather than two at a time because I like the theorizing about what's going on and discussions that come out of an episode.

Your perspective is different than mine. I had guessed that she was Helena but I think she has always had Eagan-centric motives, whatever those may be. I DO think this show’s pace is slower than I like. But I will continue watching, at least thru this season.

Terri Matter

My current guess is that Irv was in counterintelligence.

Irving is the MOTHERFUCKING GOAT! John Turturro better win an Emmy for this episode -- Britt (Helly) and Trammell (Milchick), too! I, too, am over the goats. I liked and was intrigued by S1 from the start, but it really took (for me) until episode 4 or 5 to LOVE the show and feel sort of obsessive about it. I feel like I'm having a similar experience this season.

Taco I’m so sorry, but it cracks me up how mad the goats make you. Irving is the best ever for real. He fought for his innie daughter Helly R. to come back. He really used those *possible* veteran/military/spy/whoever he is on the outside tactics on Helena and I’m not mad at it at all. John Turturro’s delivery of “YESSSS do it SETH” will give me chills every single time I rewatch (and don’t ask how many times that is). Britt Lower’s (Helly/Helena) face acting is absolutely incredible.

I will consider this the best Valentine's Day gift I've ever received. Legit. 💕
