Send in one short question/thing you want us to address from IWTV Seasons 1 and 2. So we can discuss them in our upcoming collab videos. We were chatting earlier today and we thought it would be fun and more chill to answer questions with the full context of both seasons. Instead of just episode reviews (which seemed a lot more rigid)

Hello, dears! I'm so excited about this video! Short question you said? IM SORRY 😂 First off—do you think Lestat ever truly cared for Claudia? How did you view their relationship (before the last episode, of course), and what were your thoughts on it? And on that note... what didn't you like about Claudia? I see a lot of people discussing the flaws of the vampires in this series, but almost no one talks about the moments where Claudia was cruel, inconsiderate, or showed little empathy. I feel like her character doesn’t get the same “respect” as the others—in the sense that the audience often sees her as a child throughout her life, and because of that, many of her actions are excused, while other characters would be judged more harshly. Sure, she didn’t choose to be a vampire. But neither did Lestat, and by the end of the series, she’s what—50 or 60 years old? I think that’s more than enough time to hold her accountable for her faults, even if we still love her. 😂 After all, every vampire in this series is a monster.

2024-12-07 15:42:22 +0000 UTCOh, thank you.😀 But why did Lestat destroy this with telling Louis he wants an open relationship? 🙄

2024-12-05 09:14:41 +0000 UTCAfter watching another reactor react to the season finale, it occurred to me that Anne Rice's evolution of Claudia wasn't just a natural growth. I haven't read the books in forever so I can't accurately say if it was the show's writers/producers or Anne Rice herself...the way Claudia was written overall was genius. She was a walking talking philosophical exercise in my opinion. I know Frank really loved her. She was his ride or die character. Not to say that you didn't love her, Fox. But why do you guys think some people rode so hard for her and other people didn't? And do you guys think she REALLY could've had a happy ending, knowing that vampires that were made that young weren't destined to live a happy-ever-after? ;)

2024-12-05 06:10:10 +0000 UTCWhat is your analysis on the true relationship between Armand and Lestat? Lestat seems to imply that Armand may have had a hand in Nicholas’s death. Do you think Louie was just a pawn for Armand to hurt Lestat? I question if Armand even really loved Louie. Seems like Armand had been playing the game of chess.
Partrice
2024-12-05 02:57:08 +0000 UTCSam Reid has spoken about this. He said Lestat laughs/makes jokes when he's uncomfortable/overwhelmed and in that moment Lestat was overwhelmed because that was the closest Louis had ever gotten to saying "I Love You."
Boafoa Offei-Darko
2024-12-05 02:46:44 +0000 UTCSo Lestat laughed in this situation because he was happy that he got a jealous reaction from Louis? 🤔 And instead of telling him that he's enough, he goes one better to provoke Louis further? If that was the case, than He has put Louis at a distance instead. 😞 Lestat's trauma is beeing abandoned and Louis' beeing enough. Both than triggered each other and that's sad. 😢 I'm convinced that Louis had never agreed in Claudia's plan to kill Lestat if he hadn't been involved with Antoinette after he got back together with Louis.
Myra
2024-12-05 01:56:53 +0000 UTCYes I always had questions about Lestat saying Louis did not love him knowing Lestat knew Louis knowingly did not attempt to actually kill him
deedra Mcconis
2024-12-05 01:06:08 +0000 UTCI’ve thought about this a lot too! And the theory I’ve come up with is this: Lestat is very sensitive to rejection, he perceives any kind of rejection as a threat of abandonment which forces him to act desperately and recklessly. We hear Louis in that same episode reject vampirism (Lestat takes this as a rejection of him too) and we also hear Louis say that due to him feeding solely on animals his libido is not what it used to be meaning he’s also been physically distant from Lestat. I think Lestat had this affair with Antoinette and flaunted it in front of Louis in an attempt to make Louis jealous and provoke him to cling to Lestat more. But it ended up doing the opposite and made Louis find affection elsewhere. Put yourself in Lestats’ position for a second: your companion rejects vampirism, rejects you both emotionally and physically but the second you open up the relationship, he runs off and find an “old love” and all of a sudden his libido is back? Yeah I’d crash out too 🤣
Caitlin 🥀
2024-12-05 00:56:09 +0000 UTCI would like to hear your opinion about Lestat's affair with Antoinette. Especially according to the scene when Louis asked: "Aren't I enough?" and Lestat just laughed and said he wanted an open relationship. I can't get over it. In a way Louis is making a declaration of love here and Lestat is just behaving like an xxx. I'm kind of hoping that there is an explanation for this other than Lestat's penchant for sex and Louis really beeing not enough for him. 😢
Myra
2024-12-05 00:49:37 +0000 UTC*happy little dance* I can't wait, I can't wait, I can't wait! It's gonna be so much and I am really looking forward to it. I think it would be great if you two discussed the vampire lore we've gotten so far, I would love to hear your theories and your interpretations, especially in regard to vampiric powers, the limitations, and the maker-fledgling bond.
Maria
2024-12-04 17:51:32 +0000 UTCI'm looking forward to these videos a lot! The biggest downside of reaction videos is not getting to hear what people think once it's all over. Since the S3 teaser implies we'll be seeing them together a lot, how do you think Lestat and Daniel will get on? How would you feel about it if they brought Claudia back as a figment of Lestat or Louis' imagination in S3? I would really love to keep on getting more Claudia, but perhaps they already played this out in S2 with Dreamstat. How much of what Dreamstat says do you think is what Louis really thinks? Obviously it is all coming from him, but is that he actually wants to roll his eyes when Armand tells him he loves him or quotes Shakespeare and Dreamstat lets him express that? Is it more like intrusive thoughts that are the worst thing you could think but not what you really think? Or is it what Louis thinks Lestat would say if Lestat was there? Will you watch The Talamasca tv show when it comes out?
Leticia
2024-12-04 14:36:55 +0000 UTCOhhhhh, sorry, but this is a good one: How do you feel Claudia's death/character could continue to play a role in the story? No way either Louis or Lestat forget about her. 💔
Melissa
2024-12-04 13:40:38 +0000 UTCNot like you need more questions but . . . What are you most curious to learn about from Lestat's backstory? He will be front and center for S3, so Raymond de Lioncourt should be hype.
Melissa
2024-12-04 12:49:59 +0000 UTCBonus: What song/artist would you want to see Rockstar Lestat cover/emulate in S3?
Melissa
2024-12-04 12:47:44 +0000 UTCwhat has jacob said about it?

2024-12-04 02:36:57 +0000 UTCAs a patron of both of you… What do you think about Armand being the one to turn Daniel? We know from S1 that the vampire bond is very strong, we know from S2 that Armand had never made a vampire before, and from the perspective of Louis and Madeline we know that a maker and vampire can “feel” each other even if they can’t telepathically communicate. Plus the vampires want to kill Louis for breaking laws, but we don’t know what vampires in the world think about Armand and Daniel. This sets up an intense bond between Armand and Daniel, whether or not they like or hate each other; what do you think the show will do with that bond? How will it pay off or have consequences?
Don’tDrinkTheLuminol
2024-12-03 23:45:38 +0000 UTCSimply, for both of you: recognizing that all of them are intense, complex, well written and performed characters, who is your favourite? And why? Second: by the end of the second season it’s really clear that the story we’ve been told isn’t always “true” (eg. The lestat POV scenes during the trial, Armand lying about saving Daniel’s life, Claudia could dream), is there something else now that you think was a lie that we’ll see retold later (or not)?
Natasha
2024-12-03 23:44:00 +0000 UTCI believe you posted a while ago about telling us once you finish the show who is your favourite character, GOAT, etc etc. Have you decided which character you love the most? But also.. Which character do you relate the most to? Which character intrigues you the most? Which character has the most complex and/or complete arc?
Mary
2024-12-03 23:41:23 +0000 UTCWorking hahaha
Natasha
2024-12-03 23:36:10 +0000 UTCIf my other question is too basic, how about this: if you had to choose a partner for eternity, would you rather it was a romantic interest, or a solid best friend (if you could only have one or the other)?
ArcAngel
2024-12-03 23:07:07 +0000 UTCI'll make this fun and easy -- what would be your favorite vampire super power? (flying, mind reading, super strength, awesome nails, etc).
ArcAngel
2024-12-03 23:04:58 +0000 UTCI know the answers to this based on the book & I've seen Jacob talk about it, but it's interesting to explore since the series does stray a little and bc Fox and Frank haven't read the books.
Melissa
2024-12-03 22:28:22 +0000 UTCI think Louis loved Armand at first, even if not as much as Lestat. But after Armand betrayed him and Claudia died because of it, deep down he hated him. But probably didn't realize that himself. He desperately wanted things to work out with Armand in order to punish Lestat and find comfort for himself.
Myra
2024-12-03 22:11:25 +0000 UTCI actually have two (surprise, surprise). One that may require a longer response, and one that is a quick one. 1. Would you read the post I linked (it's short) and talk about the theme of GRIEF as it exists, unfolds, and resolves (if it resolves . . .) throughout the narrative? The post is NOT a spoiler. https://www.tumblr.com/i-want-my-iwtv/144133263902/has-anne-rice-ever-confirmed-officially-that?source=share 2. My second question is one that I'd like you to answer in the moment and not think about ahead of time, so I'm leaving spaces in between the text in case you just want to read it once you're recording: What is the one specific scene that immediately comes to mind when you think of the show? Like, what scene lives "rent-free" in your head?
Melissa
2024-12-03 21:52:11 +0000 UTCIf yall were turned into vampires, how would you react to the Dark Gift? What would be your biggest challenge and what powers would you like to have? Also which vampire would you want to be your maker? (Remember it's an eternal bond! )
Natty
2024-12-03 21:41:21 +0000 UTCYES. Another question that I need an answer to lol. Because that would be wild!
Ashley
2024-12-03 21:38:18 +0000 UTC🚨🚨🚨 ^^^^ I think the guys want to avoid spoilers (book references).
Melissa
2024-12-03 21:32:47 +0000 UTCI'm gonna flip this and say that I wonder more about whether or not LOUIS loved Armand or not . . . and if so, to what degree? And if not, was this all really just for spite (which seems ridiculous, TBH)?
Melissa
2024-12-03 21:30:51 +0000 UTCArmand is the tragic, lonely muse. Despite everything, you have to love him.: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xyzr7Q9aPJk
Myra
2024-12-03 21:26:54 +0000 UTCVery interesting! I can see that. For me, I wonder if the letting him live (and make his choices) ties into his really casual “I would give it to you now” remark that startled Armand (as Rashid) in season 1. Let him live, be miserable, and then let him have the choice. But that scene is really loaded to begin with. Maybe he’s startled because it’s too close to the memory wipe. 🤔
Jessica
2024-12-03 21:19:12 +0000 UTCI myself have the impression that Louis only said Daniel would be the reminder about Armand and Louis' love so that Armand would let Daniel live. It seemed to me that Louis was aware that something was wrong, but he and Daniel weren't in a position to reveal it at the time. I think Louis saw Daniel as a way out to uncover the truth if he felt ready. In fact, Louis wasn't really ready in Dubai, but he didn't have much time left as Daniel was now older and ill. Louis was aware that this would be his last chance to find the truth.
Myra
2024-12-03 21:13:31 +0000 UTCOh, thanks for the answer. ♥️ I don't think Armand seriously thought Lestat would start something again with him. But your guess fits, assuming that Armand had no faith in Louis' love. The way Lestat acted during the trial, I don't think he wanted Louis or even Claudia death. By killing Louis, perhaps Armand wanted revenge on Lestat for rejecting him and to punish Louis for loving Lestat more than him. Here is a nice video about Armand. The song “Lonly is the muse” by Halsey fits perfectly.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFfTn7b0r3k&list=RDHFfTn7b0r3k&start_radio=1
Myra
2024-12-03 20:50:36 +0000 UTCSpecifically: did Louis learn from Claudia at all? Because I do think he and Armand used Daniel in the same way, but Louis insisted on letting Daniel live (and go on to get married, and have babies). Which reminds me of Claudia’s line when she ran away, when she says that she was still breathing, and Louis robbed her of the choice to go on and find a husband and have babies. 😅 Same mistake, different font?
Jessica
2024-12-03 20:41:58 +0000 UTCSorry I have 2 separate questions/topics. Now that Armand's true part in the trial was revealed do either of you believe that Armand's character is irredeemable or do you believe due to his own human upbringing and vampire upbringing that his actions can be understood or sympathized with. And knowing now what Claudia went through in her short vampiric life do you feel Louis still was right to make her a vampire or do you agree more with Lestat's initial handling of Claudia with him not wanting to to turn her and after he did his "tough love" treatment of her over the years?
Tamara
2024-12-03 20:37:49 +0000 UTCI would love for you to revisit your Daniel is Claudia 2.0 theory now that we know he was turned into a vampire. You hit it out of the park.
Jessica
2024-12-03 20:36:35 +0000 UTCLouis' understanding of relationships seem to be based on obligation, not love. How do the power dynamics of his human family play out in his relationships to other vampires?

2024-12-03 20:09:17 +0000 UTCReally great analysis! You’re so right about Armand’s past and how Louis represents a certain kind of freedom for him. I wondered about Armand’s place in Louis’ life too and I think you’re spot on. There’s a part of me that also feels like there is some love there though between the two but maybe I’m being kind lol.
Ashley
2024-12-03 19:57:04 +0000 UTCCan you comment on Real Rashid's messiness i.e. dropping a bomb then bailing. I love him so much for that. Be like Real Rashid: Know when to get the hell out.

The Existential Shrew
2024-12-03 19:31:50 +0000 UTCBen Daniels shines for sure. I'm going to miss him 😭
The Existential Shrew
2024-12-03 19:29:28 +0000 UTCI think Armand has always been obsessed with Lestat, and was trying to get rid of Louis and Claudia so Lestat would take him as a companion. I think Lestat wanted justice, but instead Lestat saved Louis and, deeply regretting what happened to Claudia, went off to wallow, leading Armand to take his chances with Louis instead. It's just a hunch but it explains what was going on with the trial
The Existential Shrew
2024-12-03 19:28:30 +0000 UTCI want to see what happened after the trial. When Claudia died and Louis was in the crypt? I bet Armand tried to get with Lestat and discovered Lestat is repulsed by him now. I doubt we'll get Armand throwing him off a building like in the book, but I bet something intense and unpleasant went down
The Existential Shrew
2024-12-03 19:22:43 +0000 UTCI question this all the time too! I go back and forth on whether it was “love” or just desperate need. Armands need to worship, obsess and commit his life to something or someone. I think he also uses Louis to make decisions for him - you see this with him using Lestat in the 1700s to destroy his coven and then using Louis to practically do the same thing in the 1940s. I think Armand seeks out interesting, provoking and rebellious people to live vicariously through seeing as he himself was never able to rebel and was committed to a life of servitude. Through Louis and Lestat he finds some kind of freedom. Louis also is in desperate need to rid his mind and body of Lestat and forge a new kind of relationship where he is at the helm, in full control, where there’s no emotional complexity or turmoil but he eventually resents the “prison of empathy” he’s locked himself away in
Caitlin 🥀
2024-12-03 19:20:55 +0000 UTCDo you think Armand had any love for Louis? I question that back and forth. Yes he betrayed him but he also didn’t warn the theater group when he knew Louis was planning something.
Ashley
2024-12-03 19:14:30 +0000 UTCOooo just thought of a more specific one: what’re your thoughts on Armand turning Daniel when we now know that makes Daniel Armand’s only fledgling? Louis mentions to Daniel, “I’m sorry you were burdened out of spite”. What do you guys believe was the motive?
Amanda Hill
2024-12-03 18:37:25 +0000 UTCMe too! I think it's likely the ONLY scene we'll get from his pov but we can dream 😂
sam
2024-12-03 18:36:45 +0000 UTCI hope we will get the trial from Lestat's pov. 😌
Myra
2024-12-03 18:34:08 +0000 UTCI know that. 😅 I would like to hear their assumptions, because I am thinking about these questions a lot.
Myra
2024-12-03 18:32:23 +0000 UTCOh this sounds so fun! My question: in 2x07 we saw two scenes from Lestat's pov that provided additional context to the original versions we saw in season 1. Are there any other scenes from season 1 you'd like to see from Lestat's perspective in season 3? (I'm personally assuming we will get the trial in s2 from Lestat's pov so I'm considering that one a given lol). Really excited to see this conversation!
sam
2024-12-03 18:27:23 +0000 UTCThey won’t be able to answer the first question because there’s not enough info.

2024-12-03 18:25:28 +0000 UTCWhy didn't Lestat free Louis from the coffin after saving hin earlier und why did Armand want Louis to die first.
Myra
2024-12-03 18:23:26 +0000 UTCHere for this collab! Which performance do you think was the outstanding one per season? Tough one, I admit, because this cast is enormously talented.
Ally
2024-12-03 18:13:18 +0000 UTCWhat are your thoughts on Louis going back to colored clothes in the finale, after only wearing black or Dark clothes in Dubai? I would also like to hear y’all’s thoughts on Louis still loving and missing Lestat in 1973 despite him thinking Lestat wanted him and Claudia dead.
RÆY
2024-12-03 18:10:31 +0000 UTCExcited for this! The show is packed with exceptional dialogue, so I'd love to know if you have any favourite lines in particular? And delivery? Thank you!

2024-12-03 18:01:40 +0000 UTC100% this! I’d say this is the #1 thing I’d love to hear y’all talk about. Guys, we might need a whole podcast.
Amanda Hill
2024-12-03 17:59:27 +0000 UTCI think it may be covered in S3 but do you think contemporary audiences in the US would be just as enraptured & supportive of vampire killing as a seductive act of power as the Parisian audiences were? I think there were definite nods to the power of cult behavior with the vampire “groupies”
CatsEyeWatching
2024-12-03 17:48:55 +0000 UTCPumped for this collab is an understatement! I loved watching both of your reactions and perspectives on the show. I don’t have a super specific question at the moment (if/when I do, I’ll post another comment) but I’d love to hear how (if any) of each others’ perspectives or opinions on the show impacted or shifted the other’s perspective on the show? I’d also love to know if either of you have any theories going into the next season or things you have picked up in rewatch that you want to see more fleshed out in future seasons. Yes I know that’s a lot. You can’t ask us IWTV analysts to be short-winded!
Amanda Hill
2024-12-03 17:44:47 +0000 UTCI would love to hear what you guys think will happen with Daniel, Armand, and Louis in season three. We already know rockstar Lestat is happening but we don’t know much about the others. If you can’t decide what you think will happen then what would you like to see for those characters next season? I am so so excited to see y’all talk about this show. It seems like you guys definitely love it and the characters as much as us! Thank you guys!!
Alex Harris
2024-12-03 17:43:42 +0000 UTCThis is a great idea! I don't know if you guys have time to re-watch like we do, but if you did, what specific scenes would you go back to?

2024-12-03 17:35:07 +0000 UTCWould love to hear you both talk about the different narrative perspectives throughout seasons 1 and 2, and how those perspectives impact the way the story is perceived by the audience - either in instances where discrepancies are made clear by the plot (as in the S1 scenes replayed during the trial), or just the way events/characters in the series were presented in one way, but how that presentation is necessarily influenced by the perspective of the person doing the talking. I'm especially interested in all the different versions of Lestat we've seen/been told about, when only one (in the shack in s2e8) is presented to us from an omniscient narrative standpoint. Ahhh I can't wait to hear you two talk about this series together! Whenever you mention your phone calls talking about this show I'm like "I need to be a fly on the wall soooo bad"

2024-12-03 17:34:17 +0000 UTCI’m really interested in hearing how you see Armand and Louis’ relationship in comparison to Louis and Lestats!
