Quecto Games
Added 2023-10-15 02:33:40 +0000 UTCHere it is! The first of the monthly "Extremely Small Games", the >= $3 tier reward is done.
What?
Quecto Games (or Quectos) is a collection of very small games. It's an outlet for whatever I feel like. A Quecto could be a concept for a game that I didn't think could be something bigger, a little brain teaser, or an interactive pixel art. One singular Quecto aims to provide you with at least multiple real life minutes of entertainment. Since they'll vary a lot in terms of content, some might not be your taste entirely, others might very well be.
You can access it via THIS LINK. To reiterate: you need to have at least the Tower Climber tier to access it with an Itch account.
The first
The first Quecto, Line Fling, is an example of a gameplay concept that works well as something very small. It is not representative of what these kind of games will be: they'll all be different. The next one will be much slower and a bit puzzlier.
Now what?
Aside from adding more games I plan on gradually making the collection as a whole more interesting; adding more bells and whistles. One example is the future addition of badges. Each Quecto will have 3 badges to collect: a "normal" badge, a "hard" one and another which is "secret".
I want to add a bit more than one Quecto per month in the beginning, so that it quickly becomes an actual collection. Also, as a heads up, when there are at least 3 I'll be picking 2 Quectos and make them available for free as a sort of demo. At that point I'll also do a more public "reveal".
Finally, Chrome gives me a warning when I download the game's zip file myself, which is a bit annoying and I'll look into that in due time. I assure you all it contains is the game.
Okay?
At least I got the first one out on time and I hope you get some enjoyment out of this one. This month turned out to be a bit busy. I'll be working on the rest of the secret content for Lost in Lampyrid Fog next, which should be done before next Thursday, when it releases on Armor Games. After that I'm hoping I can finish a Halloween game in time, but no promises.
Bye?
Bye.
Comments
High difficulty was what I was going for, but hopefully it didn't delve too much into "padding time by making it overly difficult" territory. And hopefully there was still some fun to be had. I'm going back to this one for some minor things in the next update when badges will be introduced (you'll likely keep your progress). Next Quecto will be a sort of fishing game!

The only real feedback is that an 89 degree line will shoot the cube to the left, but 91 degrees shoots it to the right, making it easy to completely mess up if you're going for a sharp turn left or right.
