That's helpful -- thank you!

With this meditation it makes more sense to think of it as you describe with 2a. You take the whole body as your object of attention, with the trade off of a lot of sensory detail. But eventually towards the end when you are trying to maintain attention of the small point and the whole body you may move to more of a 2b move. A good rule of thumb to remember is you can only pay attention to one gestalt (object) at a time. The bigger the object the less detail it'll have. Thanks for asking the question, hope this helps!

Hi! I'm new to meditation so not sure if this makes sense: I've started reading the TMI book, and using its language of attention vs awareness, does this exercise involve switching between 1) holding a specific sensation of the breath in attention and then 2a) widening the scope of attention, holding the whole body in attention at once? or 2b) widening awareness to include the whole body, with attention just 'softening'

This is my favorite guided meditation as of now. I did this last night and I felt like I was in the gym but for the mind! It also assisted me in becoming flexible and dropping my compulsive complacency tendencies. Please do more of these Roger!
