New Patreon Goal: Language Localization
Added 2018-11-23 14:59:11 +0000 UTCIt's been a requested feature for a long time: the ability of the bot to output in multiple languages. I've been dragging my feet on it for a while because there's always been something else to do, like improving OCR, the companion app, research, the sudden POI changes and a multitude of other features.
The open data goal held me publicly accountable once enough people joined up. Because of the raid stream, there are some cool third party tools being developed, which I hope to be able to promote and show off in the coming weeks.
So I'm adding this to bridge the large gap between the last goal and the final goal. So once we hit the next milestone, I promise to immediately start working on internationalizing the bot. This will mean all new features will be translatable and users will be able to provide language files so the bot outputs in their local language.
This is a decent size undertaking that impacts a minority of users, which is why I'm tying to this to a patreon goal. I take these goals very seriously, so they will happen.
Language localization will happen eventually, even if we never reach the goal (it's not being held hostage or anything like that). However, hitting it will immediately bump it to the top of the list.
