UFC 305

I think the main takeaway from DDP-Adesanya is that we really learned who both men truly are. I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below if you agree with my takeaways from this fight and what your opinions on the legacy of Adesanya are. Love DDP or hate him?

Also, some other takeaways from the main card.

I s’pose you were rooting for Erceg over KKF as well mate?

Kyle McLachlan

Yeah I really enjoyed the fight overall

I’ve come round to DDP after coming over here to defend his title. Shit weekend for us Aussies with the South Africans doing us in the rugby too.

Agree that Izzy wasn't counter punching when going forward as best he could. He was good on the lead, nice committed attack to the body. Great, back and forth fight in all honesty, even if it was sloppy.

Yep, we’re very much on the same page! Swimming on land…that’s a great way to describe his blitzes lol

Kyle McLachlan

I used to have Carl Froch as my go-to example of someone who isn't technically good but can just fight and doesn't give up. A real overachiever for sure. But DDP is now my go-to, and to an even more absurd degree. Froch at least could work behind his jab and had some defensive instincts that got better over time. DDP is almost hilariously bad on a technical perspective, his blitzes literally look like someone freestyle swimming on land, and yet he's now beaten 3 former champions and is the champ himself. Now that's an overachiever. And the man didn't give up, tried with 100% effort on every 'rep', so to speak, and never stopped trying to win. Also, Adesanya's defensive footwork has always not been great, but this was Overeem sprinting away from Stipe kind of bad. If he just punched together with DDP, his superior balance and defense would have probably won him every exchange. Him running away basically allowed those swimming combos from DDP to take him apart.
