Starting out on Journeys is always clumsy

The trick is to just start walking.

(Mostly just the transcript from the "about me" video, but nevertheless here it is for the archives)

Today I’m going to be doing something that I’ve put off, I have been requested a half dozen times for a way to financially support my projects and plugins, like the Sunshine Clouds plugin which you can see on screen.
My hesitation to allow anything financial to be around the projects I work on up until this point has been because of my own displeasure about allowing it to impact the enjoyment of creation that I have when making them.
But as I have gone forward and continued to turn down offers my brother brought up a good point, the problem wasn’t with the idea of people sponsoring my projects to help support me, the problem was with my perspective on it, that I was the only one who was concerned about it.
So I have decided to go ahead and open a Patreon, as some people had offered to PayPal or Kofi me money, I figured Patreon was the best option for a secure and comfortable way for people to support the channel.

A couple of important notes on the Patreon however, every post I make there will be just work in progress code on addons, anything I complete as far as addons are concerned will continue to be free. If I should for any reason not be able to complete code, then I will make a post with the latest code and an explanation of why I won’t be continuing work on that plugin, and it will be publicly available to anyone who desires it. The intention is to prevent any pay-walling, the only thing you are getting by subscribing to me is half broken code from whatever I’m messing around with, and my appreciation for your support.

I may in the future create a Discord server if there is demand for it, and should I do so then maybe the different Tiers would have labels or something in the discord, but that’s for the future me to decide.

So, the current state of the clouds plugin is that I am not entirely pleased with the optimization, I am currently working on something called incremental interlaced rendering, which has had mixed results, but certainly does improve performance, I have also tried rendering at half and quarter resolution then up-ressing the result, also with mixed results, since you can fly through the clouds it results in some noticeable jagged bits around objects when you are rendering at lower resolution, I think I can solve both of these, but if I cannot in about a week or so, I will release the clouds as is just running at native resolution, obviously they look good, but they are certainly not going to be winning awards for performance.

Thank you all for support, as always I hope you all have a wonderful week, and we’ll see you all back here hopefully with the release of an optimized cloud plugin.
