It costs about 350 NZD per month to run Secateur

The AWS bill is about 105 USD per month.

Elon Musk is about to force all Twitter API users to pay 100 USD per month for API access.

That'll bring the cost of running Secateur to about 205 USD per month.

This Patreon is priced in New Zealand dollars. To fully cover the cost of running Secateur at the moment, donations need to reach about 350 New Zealand dollars per month.

Note: Patreon isn't the only place where donations happen, Ko-Fi is seperate. But the good thing about Patreon is it shows you how many patrons Secateur has. If you can see it at 350 dollars per month, then you *know* that we're doing okay.

"Ah you sure that the US$100/month “low use” Twitter API tier is going to be sufficient for Secateur?" That's right -- I don't have any such certainty at all. The pricing is still completely hazy and unpredictable. And you're right: he could do something stupid that makes it impossible to run at any moment. Nevertheless, I'll run it till I can't. And then I'll stop, having done what I could.

Ah you sure that the US$100/month “low use” Twitter API tier is going to be sufficient for Secateur? Because last you described it, it didn’t sound like a low use API user (being regularly rate limited, even on the old rate limits). TBH I think you’d be better gracefully shutting Secateur down while you can, than waiting for it to be more permanently broken by yet another Whim of Elon change. Ewen
