Brief: A Technical Note And A Link To Our First Post-Patreon Ep

The early version of Episode 85 is up a bit earlier than anticipated: https://www.blockedandreported.org/p/early-access-episode-85-we-have-a

At noon we'll be posting the public version of this one as well as a new premium episode (Chappelle!).

The technical note: It seems most people are able to access the new site okay, BUT if you have issues, I am told that there is a quirk with our hosting provider that can cause problems if you don't include the 'www' at the start of the web address. So try that first, and then definitely email us if you still have problems.

Thank you guys so much -- amazing watching this, the most important migration in human history. -Jesse

Send me an email and I can help! The short version is if you read the bottom of the announcement post, you just go to the page, hit "Log In," and ask it to sent you an email. You click that link once and then you are basically signed in forever. But I'm very happy to help you migrate -- blockedandreported@gmail.com. -Jesse

... speaking as someone who was frustrated at not being able to hear new episode first so didn't listen to your explanation in the episode...

I'm sure more people will consider switching if you say that paid subscribers will continue to get the paid content, but you'll be terminating the Patreon account after a transition period. Paying for content only to be sent to another paywall does not inspire loyalty.

I’m a dumb gen-Xer. I don’t understand how to use substack. There’s no app, it just takes me to a vague homepage. And when it asks if I want to add your feed to my podcast app it doesn’t go anywhere. I don’t expect tech support, just letting you know my frustrations with this platform and that I’m probably not the only dum dum.

We don't have to cancel with Patreon, correct? That's already taken care of?

A second after I read "We're breaking up," I knew you must be referring to Patreon, but my heart still sank for a split second at thought of it being you two. I love how you genuinely like and amuse each other. Haven't heard anything that genuine on any other podcast. Long Live Katie and Jesse, wherever they go!

No, because we'll make sure there are no further charges -- I need to figure out what our plan should be in terms of winding down the site. We need to leave up a facade that points people to the new spot but I haven't gotten around to it yet. So if you want to manually unsub, go for it, but there will be no charges or other downsides if you don't. -Jese

sorry your instructions were longer than my attention span, know in your hearts this was all jesse's fault 💖

I am a lazy garbage monster but I genuinely want to follow y'all wherever you go. I gave my email address at the destination from the invite to log in you guys sent, and I easily incorporated episode 85 to my podcast feed on Apple Podcasts. I didn't give you any money tho, what else do I have to do to fully subscribe?

Do we have to do anything here on Patreon? Manually deactivate or anything like that?

All moved - very easy

They seem enthusiastic about becoming more podcast-friendly and I think you will find the site itself MUCH smoother. -Jesse

I'm not familiar with substack as a platform and have been skeptical about whether I like newsletter-format content since I have enough stuff to read with daily news and books honestly had no idea they could do podcasts there!

yikes, thank you!

That post link is private, maybe use this one: https://www.blockedandreported.org/p/early-access-episode-85-we-have-a

I might end up subscribing to Andrew Mulcher's pod now

DrSmart

yes & it's easier to find, pops up right after you sign up

Does this new site offer an RSS feed for my podcast app like how Patreon did?
