October progress

The first half of the month or so went to creating all the Rea animations. The sex ones took most of the time as they are longer loops, need robot animating and have to overall look better as people pay more attention to them. The gameplay ones got done way faster. They are possibly even weak, but I can come back to them at some later point if I want.

Once I had added the animations in the game, I felt like I should really add new abilities to Kate and Rea, so they would be different from Scout girl. For both of them I kinda knew what I wanted already. I wanted Kate to become a bit of a support with her pet robot Kit10. She sends the robot to assist someone, making each of their hits do extra damage. In testing it already seemed really powerful. For Rea the idea was simpler, an attack that damages units around her. 

The end of the month was nearing, so I decided to skip fancy particle effects and animations for these 2 new abilities. For Kate I already had the Kit10 idle animation which works. For Rea I had nothing, so for now her special attack looks rather underwhelming. It still allows us to see how well it works in gameplay.

Then I finally started building a playable version of the game and ran into some issues with localization. It's a new feature by Unity, not quite polished yet. Of course I'm not used to dealing with it either. I got it working and I'm not even sure why. Maybe I'll realize that one day. 

This far in these progress posts I've mostly only talked about what got done in the game. I feel like I barely talk about my marketing efforts which are often at the back of my mind. I'm wondering how many of you would care to know more about this aspect of game development. Let me know in the comments.
