The NEXT Space Engineers Server Theme - Preview & Discussion

Hi everyone,


I hope you are all well. Today I wanted to talk about the next theme for the Supporter Space Engineers Server, which I am hoping to roll out in early April (TBD). The theme of this server is something I have been teasing/discussing for a few weeks now and it's also something you have asked and spoken to me about before.

- THE COLONY LOST Space Engineers Dedicated Server

Yep, I hope you're all excited, because I totally am!
This server is still in the heavy design phase, as I and my Moderator Team are currently designing, prototyping and testing out mods and features that we want to implement into this server.


New Mods, new NPC actions and tons of great events. Hopefully, we can really engage with this server, as come the launch, I am changing the way I operate my Space Engineers Server Network for 2020. Part of that is the Supporter Server.

My dream of this server is having NPC factions like RWI, team up with players to fight events with the Green Drones. Essentially tying right in with what we are doing in the actual YouTube series of Space Engineers - Colony LOST. 

With regards to mods for the Space Engineers - Colony LOST server, we'll be using the ones from the series with some changes. The Atlas Superlaser will be present, but only usable by NPC Admin Factions (The Green Drones). This is just to make sure you don't blow yourselves up, though I can foresee an opportunity to release this later... 

The Mods List (WIP)


This mod list is still a HEAVY WIP, and I fully expect it to change over the course of the month as we prepare the server for a launch expected in April. WeaponCore is a big maybe, depending on if it's multiplayer version is ready in time for the server release, as I would love to include it. 

Your suggestions for mods are always welcome, so please do suggest anything via the comments on this post. Key thing to remember, we're trying to base and fit things around the theme of "Colony LOST", so therefore Star Wars mods don't really fit.

Hopefully, we can make this a real kickass Dedicated Space Engineers server that allows you to experience the inner workings of the Colony Universe. Fight alongside RWI in the war against the GDA, and maybe team up with some iconic individuals!

so not a mod idea but i think it would be a good idea to ether limit the safe zone block per player for the next server as i have seen a lot of ppl over using them and that also takes away from the fact that this is a pvp server

I would like to suggest this mod, the MA Spotlight Pack. It adds a whole bunch of new spotlights, including angled ones, that also have a much greater range (some can shine up to 500m). I use this mod to light wide areas and also on large ships that need to see more than a little distance when flying in the dark, inside asteroids, on dark planetary surfaces, etc. My aim with this mod so that people do not have to spam tons of lights to light up an area, hopefully greatly reducing the number needed. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1881158066

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1605982958 I reccomend the Conveyor Maintenance Shaft mod. its basically hallways and Doors that have Conveyor functionality, allowing you to place doors for better access through conveyor areas where you would normally have to add additional Conveyors to go around hallways. Also https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=410678202 which adds conveyors with built in vents reducing how many conveyors as well.

Will consider this one and let you know when the final list comes out. Though personally i like the normal mod as it's more stand-out.

We'll be keeping that one for sure! :D

Also it would be nice if we could continue to use the Norca Engineer Hud we've been using on the Expanse Server. :)

I would like to suggest an alternative to the ancient Darth Biomech letters mod that we've been using remakes/revivals of since the beginning of time. the BalCorp Letters mod ( https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1700265063 ) Gives letters a flat, less "welded on" look that makes it look more like something actually painted on the hull as well as coming in not only 1x1 small/large grid size, but 2x2 and 3x3 blocks as well for use on larger grids where larger print would be useful. :) Also the font itself is nicer and contains more letters, symbols and other things that the old letters mod does not have.

I would like to recommend Digi's Buildinfo mod https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=514062285 its been around for years and is reliable like much of what Digi makes; it shows a lot of normally hidden or obscure details about various blocks when you're going to place them and I've found it to be tremendously helpful when building in both creative and survival over the years, so much so that is one of my 'base mods' that I never start a new world without. :D (this mod has 1 dependency, Text Hud API https://steamcommunity.com/workshop/filedetails/?id=758597413 )

Modular encounter spawner framework and it's associated plugins adds a lot of life and strife to otherwise empty nothingness between players. +1

I'm thinking since we are not going to use tiered thrusters maybe we can use s modular thrusters they have ion and hydrogen vairents as well to make the ships look more sleek with the thrusters
