Weekly Report #034

So, I spent the vast majority of last week sick (to varying degrees at different points). This has led to a number of discoveries. Mostly, however, there are two that are relevant. The first, which is positive, is that I can apparently make shockingly strong progress on writing while I am feverish (at least as long as I take the path of least resistance and don't try to force myself to focus on a specific project.) The second, which is not so positive, is that the final stage of writing (proofreading everything out loud so I can hear how it came out and make sure everything is all good) really, really, really doesn't go well when you are too hoarse to string more than a sentence or two together and can barely go 90 seconds without coughing.

As a result of those two discoveries, I was very productive overall last week, but didn't focus as much as I should have/would have liked to/intended to on keeping to the planned schedule. Most of the work was adding to the first draft of Gold Star, the rest was getting Sack as close as possible to release. The latter probably only needs an hour or two to finish up at this point, but when that hour or two comes will depend on my condition. I'm kinda sorta starting to get my voice back so I'm hopeful I'll be able to proof and release it tomorrow, but my throat has been choked up and ragged for days and it's been pretty slow improvement so I might need til tuesday. Regardless, with Sack at about 98% completion and Gold Star pretty well along (and into some trickier parts to write), today is the day I'll break out Artemis again and try to crack through the last unwritten bits of that story.

In total, that's 12K even last week which brings me well over halfway to the new 50K quota at around 27K after just two weeks. With another 2 and a half to go, a buffer like that should allow me to absorb some inefficient days if I have to force a bit of slow-grind progress on Artemis.
