So Crooks here talks really soft and slowly, paired with his equally slow movements he can come off as creepy and insincere, but he thinks a lot about his words before he speaks. People think he's dumb, and he doesn't bother trying to change anyones minds. It's easier to hide when no one thinks you're a threat.
Also I find the idea that he straightened his own teeth, probably out of desperation, really creepy. >.<
