Development Changes
Added 2025-11-06 22:00:52 +0000 UTC(Long post, TL;DR at the bottom)
If you have been following the economic updates, it has sadly mainly been negative updates, as the game have overall been losing money for the last 2.5 years. While there have been ups and downs, the overall trend has remained downwards, to the point where the game is barely struggling by.
This can't continue forever, as the game will run out of money at some point, and after chatting with the community about this I've come to the realization that part of the issue have been my approach to trying to solve the issue. I've been chasing big new features in the hope that they'll bring in new players or bring back old ones, which have felt more and more important as the game lost more and more money.
But this has meant that I've been neglecting the overall quality of the game, and it's existing features, as I've been chasing after the new ones. Often leaving features half abandoned after release when they didn't solve the economic situation, and making the development feel unfocused and stagnant as you all weren't getting the updates you wanted.
I've felt like this was the approach I had to take, to get the game's economy back in shape, so I would have the money to safely do all the features all of you have been asking for. But looking back at it now, I feel like it have been the completely wrong approach, and I should have done the opposite, focusing more on improving the game for all you first instead of chasing new players. You all are who have supported the game all this time, and I should focus on making the game one that the existing community wants to fund, instead of chasing after new players.
So going forward, I want to focus more on the features and updates you all have been asking for, and involve the community more in the decision of what's being worked on. My idea for how to do this, would be to once a month host a live stream here on Patreon to decide together with Patreon backers (probably level 2+) what should be worked on next. While also releasing some smaller scale roadmaps showing what's being worked on and what's coming up. This should allow you all get a bigger influence on the development of the game, and make me focus more on the updates you all want.
The localization update (which I still believe will be great for the game) should hopefully be finished in a couple of weeks, so I hope to host the first of these live streams later this month. I'm also looking at finding a good setup to allow people who can't be there for the live stream discussion to share their inputs on what should be worked on.
I want this to be a change that gets the development back on track for making the game better for everyone who plays it, and make it something that you'll want to start, continue or return to supporting, as I want to work with all of you to make the best possible game!
For the economy to be stable again, the game needs to make around 1.5k USD more each month, all of this money goes into running and improving the game, and I hopefully with all of your support we can get not only the game's economy back on track, but also it's development.
Thanks for all the support, and I hope I can continue sharing AMQ with you all for many more years to come!
TL;DR
I've been focusing too much on features to get new players to solve the issue with the game losing money, instead of improving the game and adding the features the community wants.
To get focus back on what the community want, I'll be hosting monthly live streams for Patreon's where we decide what should be worked on.
I hope this can help get not only the game's economy, but also it's development back on track.
