The Big Lebowski (Full Reaction)

Happy Friday!! Here is the full reaction for The Big Lebowski. This movie won the last movie poll. It did not disappoint either. It was not only a great film but definitely deserves to be a cult classic...but you know, that's just like, my opinion man.

Watched on: Peacock / Runtime: 1:57:28

Hope you enjoy!

The bowling alley was Hollywood Star Lanes. It was demolished in 2002 to make way for Kingsley Elementary School.

Fargo is my favorite Coen Brothers movie, especially as someone who lives in Minnesota. I watch it every year at the first snowfall. Never gets old.

Benjamin Bradtke

"You see what happens, Larry?! You see what happens, when you FIND A STRANGER IN THE ALPS?!" one of my all time favourite TV edits for a movie. Great reaction Jax! I really like enjoyed.. your opinion, man! I highly recommend Hail, Cesar!

Mister Lou

I've lost count of how many times I've seen this movie and it's just as funny with each rewatch. I find myself quoting it at all sorts of random times! lol Really enjoyed getting to watch it again with you Jax! O Brother, Where Art Thou and Raising Arizona are both great watches just like this one and you would, without question, love both. So be sure to add them to your short list when you want a really fun movie to laugh at!

Oh Brother Where Art Thou was the first Coen Bros. movie I ever saw, and I also saw it for a film class, and I loved it. I totally think you should watch it. I also think you would like Hail, Caesar! It's a very underrated movie. I think you'd especially like it Jax because you are such a lover of movies and Hail, Caesar! is such a great love letter to the golden age of movies. Great performances from the amazing cast. I hope it's one you watch!

Ed Scoglio

Nice reaction Jax! We started with a tumbleweed and ended with some rambling - it was the journey that was important.

As a lifelong fan of the Coen brothers,I did not love this film when I first saw it. I liked it a lot but it’s taking me repeat viewings to fully appreciate it. It’s too bad the film wasn’t popular right away, because they tore down that bowling alley that was on Santa Monica Blvd. right next to the 101, and it would’ve been s popular now, given how much people love this film. John Goodman has been in at least five of their films, starting with “Raising Arizona”, with one of my all-time favorite Nicolas Cage performances, and one of their few out-and-out comedies. While there are so many of their films you should really react to, I highly recommend “Fargo” next, and then also “No Country for Old Men”, which I pretty much consider my favorite film of all time. A definite master class in every aspect of filmmaking (and definitely NOT a comedy). Great reaXtion, Jax, as always and yet again.

That headband really ties your outfit together Jax. Aside from this movie, Fargo is probably the Coen brothers' most iconic movie. It’s a must watch. I was introduced to it during a Films of the 90’s elective I took during college and it remains a favorite. I would also recommend Inside Llewyn Davis, which has great performances and music. I think it would be really interesting if you watched that movie and A Complete Unknown (which just came to Hulu) as part of a themed week. Both movies depict the folk revivalism scene in Greenwich Village in the 60’s.

Mike Smith

This is one of my favorite movie, and a great reaction from you. There's a fantastic video online from when John Goodman got his Hollywood walk of fame star, where Jeff Bridges shows up as the Dude to give a speech, with Goodman laughing his ass off the entire time. Well worth the watch.

I believe that this movie was the one that followed Fargo. I read a commentary once where the writer theorized that the reason John Goodman’s character was repeatedly telling Steve Buscemi’s character to shut up was because Steve Buscemi’s character in Fargo almost never stopped talking. I don’t know if this is really what the Coen brothers had in mind, but I like to think that it was.

Daniel Goldberg

She said witty 😂

Mike Smith

So many good Coen brothers movies to choose from. It is hard to top this one, but i personally would try Oh Brother Where Art Thou and Fargo next.

Joe

Seriously, you actually said, "woody dialog" during that particular scene? 🤣 Took you long enough to recognize Professor Lupin. I would watch Jeff Bridges in "The Old Man", very different character but riveting and unexpected character and plot.

Stan Johnston

I saw it a while ago didn't understand it but to be fair there was so many distractions while I saw it. So saw it now it with jax and omg it is hilarious! Definitely give it a chance

Armando Castillo

I'm happy you loved this movie! You need to set aside some time to watch other Coen Brothers movies. They're all absurd and quirky like this was, but each one is unique. I'd recommend starting with Raising Arizona and working up chronologically. Edit after hearing your closing comments: Yes! No Country and True Grit are later, more serious Coen Brothers movies, but the earlier ones are absurd comedies with a ton of heart. You'll love them!

Chester Beals

Such a strange but fun movie.

Alex Gorell

been a very long time since ive seen this. looking forward to a rewatch and always good to see John Goodman

IncredibleBulk

I have never seen this movie. It was one of those movies that everyone kept insisting I watch and I got really annoyed with them. So planted my feet and said "no I won't watch it just to spite you all"
