Pinocchio (Full Reaction)

Pinocchio is packed with charm, adventure, and a sprinkle of nightmarish consequences. On the surface, it’s a heartwarming story about a puppet trying to become a real boy. Underneath all the fantasy lies a more sinister undercurrent. Danger and enslavement await children who make mistakes. From Pleasure Island to a giant man eating whale, Pinocchio feels like a cautionary tale about resisting temptation and questionable parenting.

Jiminy Cricket was assigned to look after little Pinocchio, and I think it’s safe to say he failed at his job multiple times! Upon further reflection, I wonder if there’s a message woven into this story about how even the most well-intentioned mentors can drop the ball and sometimes you have to figure out how to navigate the world on your own.

This story definitely fits the mold of a classic fairy tale. It’s entertaining and terrifying! Let me know what you think about Pinocchio. Did you enjoy this as a kid?

Hope you enjoy!❤️🐑

I'll bet that, after seeing Pinocchio's nose grow when he lies, the reference in "Deadpool & Wolverine" makes a lot more sense.

Tim Heron

Yeah it was super well done!

Connor Vide

Excellent!!! Mouse Detecive is right before the Renaissance and Rescuers is the only animated Disney sequel put out in theaters.and is the forgotten Renaissance movie! Came out just after Mermaid and before Aladdin!

Ed Scoglio

Ok and since u don't remember much about it hope u do a reaction to it soon and there's two movies of fox and the hound.

David hess

You definitely should!

Future_Boy85

The ocean is a truly terrifying place!!

Jacqueline

That is so true!

Jacqueline

Haha! An animated horror movie is a perfect way to describe it. The Jungle Book is definitely on my movie list. I haven't seen it in forever! Never saw the Great Mouse Detective or Rescuers Down Under. I'll add those to the list as well. It's so fun seeing these older Disney films.

Jacqueline

Ooh, I haven't seen that in so many years! I need to re-watch the Jungle Book!

Jacqueline

That's a great quote! Also, that's a lot for a six year old to take in.

Jacqueline

I'd love to see Netflix's Pinocchio! Stop motion is such an intricate and tedious process. That's really impressive they were able to make a full length feature using that technique. I'll put it on my watchlist list!

Jacqueline

I saw it when I was a kid, but would love to see it again! I don't remember it much.

Jacqueline

This movie terrified me when I was little, honestly!!!! To this day I don’t like the deep ocean, probably because of the idea of a monstrous whale or shark that could eat me. And I think it started here! It definitely is a cautionary tale and I like your take on Jiminy Cricket… that’s one I had never thought of before.

Kay Douglas

Watching a lot of these earlier Disney movies as an adult makes you realize just how dark they are. Stuff you don’t notice as a kid.

Alex Gorell

Yeah, this is basically an animated horror movie! Been a while since I saw this, but it is so intense! Monstro was terrifying too!! Never noticed the other storybooks too! Might have been easter eggs! This movie came out in 1940 and Alice and Peter Pan didn't come out until 11 and 13 years later respectively, but Walt very likely was already planning for those. Speaking of, Wish Upon a Star is of course the signature Disney song, but it's kind of funny to me that it's a song that wasn't written by the Shermer Bros. given they were THE Disney songwriters My all time favorite classic Disney movie is The Jungle Book. Loved that once since I was a kid! Always the one I wanted to watch. I do also have a special affinity for Great Mouse Detective and Rescuers Down Under, but I don't know if those can really count as "classics". I tend to think of the Disney Classics as anything made while Walt was still alive or at least had a hand in before he died. Outside of animation, Mary Poppins is my all time favorite Disney movie!

Ed Scoglio

I remember enjoying it as a kid. It definitely wasn't my favorite though. I think my favorite classic Disney movie is the Jungle Book 🐅🦧🐘🐺

It was fun to revisit through your eyes Jax! Much like the morals from the original fairy tales, this still included some "Grimm" aspects. When I first encountered the story, the takeaway I was given from my grandmother was presented to me as "just not being willfully bad isn't good enough, you have to be willfully good" Quite a lesson for a 6 year old.🤔

Robert Inman

I watched this movie every day when I was 3. I don’t think I understood it but it was my favourite movie Your comment about the scared straight show at the end was really funny As a kid I always wanted to sleep in a matchbox like Jiminy did lol Also there are a few pinnochio horror movies not made by Disney Id also recommend watching Netflix’s pinnochio movie directed by Guillermo Del Toro. It’s stop motion animation. It’s a bit more accurate to the original fairy tale And it’s super emotional and well made. It’s a mix of funny and sad and dark like this one. A lot sadder than this one. It won an Oscar for best animated film a few years ago I believe. It was my favourite movie the year it came out

I enjoy watching ur reactions and was wondering have u heard of or seen the fox and the hound?
