The Avatar State: Aang and the group meet an Earth Kingdom general who wants to use Aang's powerful `Avatar State' as a weapon to defeat the Fire Nation. But it's more difficult than Aang thinks.
Prince Zuko's sister is fierce...and I kind of hate how powerful she is!! She seems like she's going to be a difficult villain to defeat.

Azula had so little screen time up until now, and even in this episode, and yet we all get why she is such a threat. She just had a speech about the tide and she threw lightning. And already we all know she's a beast. And then, we as audience, we needed the story line with the General and Aang's nightmares and Roku's warning to really bring home the "why" of the journey is so important (vs the shortcut of trying to use the Avatar state as a win-scenario gimmick). Aang was so strong during the book 1 finale, but that may not be the best thing in the long-run. So they needed to show us this now, in the best way. And then there's the simple yet deep ways they show the relationship with the main crew. Katara with the wisdom and Sokka with the support. I mean, there was even Iroh and Zuko and how they find every reason in the world to find a life for themselves outside of the Fire Nation. This episode is a masterclass in storytelling efficiency.
