You can watch the individual shows on its own, and just go through the seasons and still enjoy them. It would be like watching all the Iron Man or Captain America movies, but not watching anything else. Still great on its own, and they tell great stories, just not the full story. Also, some characters make appearances between shows (like Claire). The Defenders show is like their version of the Avengers, where they all come together. But it is a big commitment to ask, going from 3 seasons of Daredevil to 13 seasons if you include the other shows. It's definitely a fun ride if you choose it.
